I went ahead and dismissed the flag for now. I can't remember where, but I've read some advice for SO that having the same answers doesn't necessarily make a duplicate. Considering that the nature of this question is that the asker has already applied, I'd say it is distinctly different.
I just closed it, but that's a good point. Dup answers don't make it a dup for sure. Plus, someone else may want to add something that directly applies to this scenario, so I reopened it.

I've talked to a friend who used to work a similar position and he says that's normal.
What's normal for one company might differ a lot from what's normal at others, you should start by asking your boss and / or colleagues about what's considered okay for your workplace.
