Do I still have to download the installed apps from internet ?? Or Does this method saves the backup file of installed applications ??

Oh, I think you misunderstood my question. I meant, can you make a backup from Ubuntu, and then restore that backup to another flavor, for example Xubuntu?

@Fiksdal yes - it's an Ubuntu-based distro, so that is possible - you need to be careful with the PPAs you add though, you won't be able to port them over

@Fiksdal you'd also need to check that the distribution is based on the same version of Ubuntu you migrated from, or higher. If you had 15.04 then went to mint 17 you could run into problems

@Fiksdal just make sure you don't add the official Ubuntu PPAs - they could break your system

@Fiksdal No - Mint will have the equivalent; its own... you can add the PPA you've manually added

Oh, Mint will have their one PPA with all the same software as Ubuntu, is that what you are saying? And I need to make sure Aptik restores from that rather than Ubuntu's?

Right, and the ones I manually added will mostly be the same whether I'm on Mint or Ubuntu? And how do I make it get packages from MInt PPA rather than Ubuntu PPA?

@Fiksdal its pretty much the same - the only ppas you shouldn't merge with Mint are those that come by default with Ubuntu
