Is the intention of this room to study some particular textbook? Or is it simply for questions related to functional analysis in general?

@JulianRachman: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2098511/FAnotes.pdf I'm using my professor's draft of his textbook. I'm currently revising some measure theory in the appendix and going through chapters 2-4. I want to focus on chapters 10-11 eventually, so after 4 I'll check what else I need to start with 10. You can diverge of course.
Einsiedler. That's cool.
IIRC he teaches at ETHZ. And some MSE users were in fact taught by him.
I am not sure if @JulianRachman is still planning on joining us, but I have been looking at the content
Huy is taught by him fairly sure, or was taught by him
The study group was just Huy, myself and Julian atm
Is there some plan? If I occasionally peek into this room, will I see how far you already are in the text?
@MartinSleziak We were going to get the basics down by ourselves, the measure theory appendix and then do chapters 1->4 and see what we wanted to do after that

Thanks for the info!
So I guess you'll see how far in we are yes, Huy is already ahead, but you'll see me slowly converging on his progress hopefully
np :)
If I remember correctly, here is a user who posted several questions related to Einsiedler's notes when he was taught FA course by him.
And you will probably find also other questions based on his books or lector notes.
Oh cool, thanks for those, I'll definitely see if I can extract knowledge
I'll brb
I wonder why this room is shown in the list of rooms only after rooms imported from comments: chat.stackexchange.com/… Strange...?

@MartinSleziak My current hypothesis is that Huy used 'create a room with this user' with Julian, and then renamed it, so the room is marked as a 'room for A and B'

@MartinSleziak: Yes, he's (one of) my teacher. I learned Analysis from him and am currently learning about Lie groups from him and relearning functional analysis from his textbook.
@GaloisintheField Yes, I think this is what happened. Is that a bad think? Should I recreate it in the proper way?
@Huy Depends if we want more people to join us xD
Or, more precisely, whether you want more people to notice this room.
Huy
Huy
I don't mind either, tbh.
I just want to learn. :P
If it is on the first page, there is bigger chance random passerby might notice it.
Which might be a good thing if they join.
And it might be a bad thing if they come here to ask off-topic question.
12:36
I think more people joining is cool personally
Huy
Huy
ok, I'll recreate it then
More people is correlated with more motivation
Huy
Huy
I don't mind either really
Thanks for creating the new room.

@MartinSleziak: is there a way to delete this room?
12:39
No but it will be frozen if we leave it
I advertised the old room, in the calculus chatroom, so i will give there a link to the new one.
Cool, hopefully Julian stays with us
@Huy If this room is inactive (with no messages) for 14 days, it will be frozen which means people can no longer post new messages.

ok, good to know.
It also means that it is not shown in the list of rooms. (Unless you click on the option to show frozen rooms.)
The transcript will still be available - if you have link to the room or can find the room in some way. (Which is good thing - in general, even frozen rooms, which are no longer active, might contain some valuable information. So it is good that they ar not lost.)
Just for the better visibility I will post here link to the new room:

 Functional Analysis Study Group

This is a room to discuss the lecture notes of Prof. Einsiedle...
