I think a reasonable line for "critique" questions here is: could others learn from the example, or is the critique really very specific to that individual image?
And, related: can the question be given a title which distinguishes it meaningfully from all other "what do you think of this photo"? questions, and which will help other people in similar situations find the question?

@mattdm honestly, if we wanted to I don't even think the first one has to be a criteria. As long as the question is answerable (which would be likely if it meets the second criteria you outlined) then it could only be of direct use to the asker, but it would still be of artistic value to anyone else. Now, we might have to revisit that if we get overwhelmed, but that's also something we need to figure out as a community.
I could just as easily see us trying to avoid things that wouldn't be useful for others, but then it also starts becoming more of a technique question with pictures as an example kind of thing rather than really being critique.

I guess I don't have a problem with seeing what happens if we construe "useful for others" very broadly.
But I'd still like to emphasize the second point. I don't want an unsearchable stream of questions which are identical except for (very different) images.
yeah
if it isn't discoverable, it isn't useful
in other news, I'm really a bit surprised that we only have two people running for the mod slot. I would have expected more. Will be an interesting election, but at least there are no bad choices (yet anyway), so whatever happens it will be a good thing

@MikeW - good luck
@Loong - so how many people actually recognize your gravatar?
@AJHenderson That happened only once before. ;-)
21:13
@Loong I got one of those for free with my Spyder 5 upgrade
not sure I would buy one otherwise, but for free it was nice
@AJHenderson I actually bought the big one and the passport version.
Is this even working? I cast my two votes, but since my third was unused it's unclear to me that the system is even registering them.
I.e., no, "Thanks for voting, you can come back and change your votes up until the election ends" like on every other election I've participated in.
@feetwet at least I got my Constituent badge for voting
I guess that's a good way to tell. I'll watch for that...
Ah yes, there it goes. Guess it's working!

@AJHenderson :) Good luck AJ!
