@Arperum Caves do give you more ores, but in average, per hour, you will get like half the diamonds and emeralds. Which is the only thing you're mining for if you have 43 stacks of iron :)

@RudolfL.Jelínek They are playing modded, so you need a ton of resources, not to mention that some stuff that rather useless on vanilla, like gold, are used a lot in modded

@DH. gold, by my statistics, is about the same frequent when cave-mining and branch-mining - cave: 307 gold in 15 hours, branchmine: 298 gold in 15 hours.

I wonder, how hard would it be to make the ore gen be aware of caves and avoid them/seek them out?

@DH. And, also, gold is not useless :) Not even in vanilla - rails, for example

@ratchetfreak very hard, since generation of worlds/chunks is in this order: 1. Ores, 2. Bedrock, 3. Caves, lakes, 4. Dungeons, etc.

so it would require modifying the cavegen to add or remove those ores to hide them or show them

@RudolfL.Jelínek Beacon and Rails is the only uses for gold in vanilla that I'm aware, while on modded half of the machines requires it lol

Stars mean people think it's interesting enough to be put on the starboard (see right off the screen)

Useful because it doesn't scroll as fast as chat does so you can see at a glance some things

And there's pinning posts so they stay up there for announcements
