On the other hand, do whatever you have fun doing. My friend plays on peaceful because he doesn't want to be distracted from building cool stuff by annoyances like staying alive and avoiding monsters. I think that's part of the fun, he doesn't. It's all good.

I love the feeling of pushing back the hostile wilderness so I play on Normal, but both ways are valid IMO

I've updated my minecraft server.jar today, but now it's not able to load the saved world anymore ....

From my old server i've only a folder 'myownworld' and the server.properties has the following level-name=myownworld

I don't know anything about running servers, but that sounds like a good question to ask on the site.

I've put the folder 'myownworld' next the the jar, but when I start the server it says: unable to find world, generating a new one

Hey, did you try changing the server.properties file? It specifies which map to load.

hmm odd, that worked for me, are you on windows or linux? I don't know if it looks for the same properties file on windows (only got a simple linux server running here)
