@Adam did we reopen that question? If not, it's probably not a good question to highlight on the network.

I'm kidding. That's a terrible question to model. haha

12:13 AM
Well...I missed the sarcasm. Whoops.

12:37 AM
heh. One of the things I like about this place. I can write answers about stuff I researched and can't afford ;p

Been using a Magic Trackpad 2 for the last few days... a little pricey, but it makes my Macbook Pro trackpad feel cheap. That's not an easy thing to do
Have the click force turned all the way down. Uniform click pressure across the whole thing is awesome
Been waiting for a question to pop up I can recommend it on :P
They're doing some kind of instant calibration too - I can put a weight on it and it still takes the same amount of force from my finger to click.
Not like that's a terribly practical thing, just find it interesting.

considers asking question about trackpads that will never actually be purchased so others can benefit from recommending things
That sounds like a fantastic trackpad though. I'd love to have one.

Wait a few months for them to start coming up on eBay.
This thing is built solid, I don't see how one could abuse it enough to make it not work
Although people consistently surprise me in that category, so...

Sounds like grounds for an absurd commercial about build-quality.
"You can throw it through the turbine of a 747 and it will come out just fine!"

apple would NEVER do that ;p

Apple likes to do commercials that just show what products do, and then let SameSong & friends flounder around trying to make fun of Apple's stuff. They benefit both ways :P

They love perfect hands, pure white backgrounds, and unknown indie music.

There's some guy working in Apple's PR department who has hands insured for nine billion dollars.

@Undo: the newer ones have been a bit meh

I think they switched ad companies somewhat recently, yeah

I can't tell if that was sarcasm or not... hah
It seems reasonable for Apple.

(that said, I'm totally a PC guy and not their target market) ;p

Q: How should disclosure work if we're answering based on hardware for review?

Journeyman GeekWell, while I've not been that lucky yet, I'd be pretty happy to try out hardware and review it in various places, primarily my blog. I do that already with hardware I buy. There's two possible situations though. You're a professional reviewer. You have a stack of these things and happen to be ...

Note: the official Hardware Recommendations abbreviation is HW :)

I like HR better :P

A: How should disclosure work if we're answering based on hardware for review?

UndoIf I were in the professional-reviewer position, I'd be inclined to disclose that. You got it for free, that can (positively) affect your view of a product. However, I don't think we need to worry about this. If they are making good, high-quality recommendations, why should we care? If the recomm...

(I'd so disclose the hell out of it if someone sent me stuff free. Rarely happens tho ;p)

I wish I was that important.

Q: Re-write dumbphone question, or ask new question?

Ricky(Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I believe it is? Please feel free to tell me otherwise, and I can move/remove this question if necessary. Also, please feel free to add/remove tags - I haven't used Meta before, and I'm not sure what tags would go well here.) Relating to my questi...

Q: New low-cost depth sensors for robotics

lahjaton_jWhat are currently the best low-cost (< 1000 USD) depth sensors in terms of: range (at least 3 meters, the more the better) size power consumption (preferably USB powered) spatial resolution/accuracy depth resolution/accuracy robustness (lighting conditions, amount of unknown pixels) After Pr...

Man its been a rough few days. Was out of town this past weekend, the interior of our house is getting painted this week, and I will be out of town again this upcoming weekend.
Just thought I would give a quick update so people wouldn't think I disappeared.

Q: External trackpad for a Macbook Pro?

UndoI've recently purchased a trackpad (which I'll probably put in an answer), but I'm curious about what else is available. The requirements: Must work with my 2012 MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.11) Must not have a 'sticky' surface - I hate it when my finger gets 'stuck' (stick-slip phenomenon) on ...

Should we have a more general "input-devices" tag, or have a "trackpad" tag?

I like trackpad better than input-devices.
The latter is really broad, covering keyboards, mice, microphones, serial ports, etc

Oh, I can create tags.
That was my thinking too, created

Hooray another bounty!
Those are usually good at greatly adding to the sense of activity on a site.
