2:08 AM
I invited you four to a g+ community...it seemed to be a potential solution to googles ineptitude.
@DaaaahWhoosh @ArtOfCode @NexTerren @Green ^^

1 hour later…
3:14 AM
Video is uploading now.

3:24 AM
@James Just checked Google Plus and I don't see any invites. Didn't see any in YouTube either.

2 hours later…
5:25 AM
its at 88%

5 hours later…
10:24 AM
@James Got the invitation to the Google + community, but that's it. Still don't have permissions.

3 hours later…
1:47 PM
@NexTerren ...anyone else have ideas. I kinda give up. I will try adding the permissions one more time.

@James No ideas what-so-ever, unless we want to find a Google/YouTube forum/help site to post to. I think I came across one or two when trying to Google for a fix.

I don't need any rights to the YT channel or the G+ group. Any coordination I would want to do, I can do here.

Yeah I came across a bunch of work arounds that involved a bunch of BS involving G+ but seriously this is kind of shockingly inept for google...

@James none ideas, apart from just plain giving the necessary people the email and password for the account login

Assuming we can't fix it we have two options:
1) Have James own the channel in private, and he manages all the uploading/community/whatever.
2) Continue to share the password.*

* Maybe I've been in IT for too long but this makes me nervous. It gets into a "weakest link" as far as security (or people going off the rails) goes.

1:50 PM
...I was just looking at the account and apparently there was another step in the uploading process
I went to bed before it was done
Ill have to check it out over lunch.
I thought the video would be there this morning

Because if we share the password with all normal speakers, it sets the presidence that we share it with all normal speakers. There might be somebody we'd love to have on the show again and again but... we don't exactly trust them.

Yeah, it wasn't there when I looked either

Ditto about the video.

@NexTerren Sharing passwords makes me nervous too.

Well at least giving people access to drive worked (right @ArtOfCode ?)

1:52 PM
If we gotta share the password it should be because of a concrete reason. AKA I shouldn't get it unless my role changes.

@NexTerren honestly I don't think speakers need to be able to access the account. It needs one owner, and potentially access for whoever does tech.

so we can get files and stuff shread
shared...

@James yeah

@James Yes, it did work nicely.

@ArtOfCode Yep. If we're fine with using Drive for files, just James needs to be in charge. You might be the exception to that rule. If Drive is a hassle, we could do that exception and as long as we don't slide further down the slippery slope I'd be fine with that.

1:53 PM
@ArtOfCode Why would speakers need access to the YT account?

@Green I don't think they do

Nicely except SOMEBODY deleted the folders, not to name any names, @ArtOfCode. :(

@NexTerren shush :P I didn't know Drive was going to delete everything when I downloaded it

I don't think they do either, agreed. I was just mucking around there to try to set things up (mainly set up permissions so I could delete the password).
@ArtOfCode #NeverForgive
I have a meeting. See you guys in a bit.

Good luck. Stay awake.

'eh?

3:03 PM
@NexTerren posted 'em in the wrong room
> How many people saw the "how would humans communicate if we could change our skin color?"
and
> It's gotten me thinking.

@ArtOfCode Gotcha, gotcha.

1 hour later…
4:28 PM
Squirrel

@James Is this an Up reference or a German-speaking reference?

5:06 PM
Up
Also, can someone verify they can see the video on youtube now?/

> This channel doesn't have any content
> This channel has no videos.

hrm...
cause its out there...

You can upload videos and have them not publically listed.
I think they default to not being publically listed.
Also I don't recall what it was, but you said you'd link something (the main world building site, maybe?) in the description of the video.

let me see
@NexTerren Yeah I am sort of stumbling through that now.
hmmm...

Silly us, for assuming YouTube would be fairly straight forward and easy to use.

2 hours later…
6:50 PM
It may just be a matter of time for it to show up on the channel from what I have been reading

7:02 PM
@MonicaCellio Hey could you give me the best link for the blog, I want to put it in the info section on the podcast.
(and I can't get to medium from work)

gracias

I'll get to writing up a meta post
ooooor not

Already done :)
and I am working on the blog post

@James mind if I copy-edit that post some to add a little verbosity?
well, I went and did it :) feel free to roll it back if you hate it

8:09 PM
@ArtOfCode Nicely written

8:57 PM
@ArtOfCode, regarding our discussion yesterday about brevity code vs ATC comms, I have this video.

Yeah, I listen to that and I haven't got a clue what they're talking about :)

The comms aren't especially tight but it gets the point across.
I can find a more precise example of comms.
These are pretty good example (as much as I can tell as someone who only studies, but does not practice.)
