Q: Basis sets for combinator calculus

NathanielIt is well known that the S and K combinators form a basis set for combinator calculus, in the sense that all other combinators can be expressed in terms of them. There is also Curry's B, C, K, W basis, which has the same property. There must be an infinite number of such bases, but I don't know ...

I was reading about [in-place algorithms](https://www.wikiwand.com/en/In-place_algorithm), and there is this one statement which I am not able to understand ~
```
However, this form is very limited as simply having an index to a length n array requires O(log n) bits.
```
I was hoping it would be very helpful if someone can help me figure out the meaning of this statement.
Thanks.

There is quite hot question is it possible to clean comments a bit? I have flagged one as obsolete (OP wrote that he could give a file, and the link is present in the question). Sorry to bother, but frankly speaking I wait more than 30 seconds to load and another 5 per "show more comments".

@Evil the comments aren't the source of the slowness
mathjax rendering may be (what browser are you using?), but most likely you're just on a slow or flaky network connection
@Gilles Safari, mobile connection, mobile phone, yes MathJax renders a bit, but after the comments are read via showing more the page have to reflow and repaint - so this is not just the amount of data or connection. Also a lot of scrolling to read...
Gilles Thank you. There are a lot of possible reasons, but from practical point - now it scrolls smoothly and loads faster (and earlier I got it in the cache, so it is not fresh vs cached).
