@RoryAlsop did you have a look at my google doc? It needs some work tomorrow I think, but... want to do a sec.se blog post and/or integrate some points?

@Ninefingers I got a very quick look - didn't realise that was what you were doing. Sounds like an awesome tool!
need to make some time tomorrow to actually respond usefully though
Hey @Iszi

Howdy @RoryAlsop. I just did a "Rejoin Favorites" to pop a question up in the Gaming chat.
How's things going here?

Dunno - I just popped in the same way :-)
Good weekend?

@RoryAlsop Mediocre. Had some hassles with the cable company yesterday, but it all got worked out. Ended up getting a month free.

Glad to hear people have this room as a favourite :)
Out of interest - when migrating is it more correct to migrate and have the target site merge & close, or just close as off topic if you know it'll be closed?
@RoryAlsop Yep, sure is :) We have more in the works than I'm allowed to talk about, but we've developing some interesting things.

@Ninefingers I used to let the destination site make that decision. Sometimes the answers are useful, sometimes they aren't (or would give way too much weight to outsiders)

@MarkTrapp Yeah, ok. I recently popped into SU chat for such a case, but wondered if there was an official view and/or strategy.

user2334
The official strategy is to not migrate anything old and resolved

That also makes sense.
This was a new question for crypto, but asked ad nauseum on SU.

> Beyond that, I think the "solution" to this is probably just to discourage or block these migrations entirely except in very, very exceptional circumstances.
Makes sense to me. I was just having a moment of "I probably know this, but I'm not sure..."
I do know what I'm doing, I promise :)

Oh for sure: I just dropped the link in case you needed to cite it somewhere

@RoryA I'm going to get some feedback from work tomorrow on the blog post - want to make it a really polished piece and I work with some insanely smart people, so they'll do a good job at picking it apart.
@MarkTrapp Yep, be useful, I'll add it to my folder of meta-posts-to-cite. It's a bit bad that I have one of these :(

@MarkTrapp I completely disagree with @Shog9's answer. An off-topic post is off-topic even if it's discovered after it's been answered. Votes being carried over to the target site is a problem; the solution is not to carry the votes over.

Q: Please Bump Up My Questions To Unban Me

Anari Sengbe Possible Duplicate: What can I do when getting “Sorry, we are no longer accepting questions/answers from this account”? can someone please bump up my questions to unban me please. I'm working on a tournament auction script that I could really use help on.

user2334
I admire the gumption

user2334
@Gilles You can still close questions as off-topic and destination sites can still request migration

It's basically a poor man's approval queue for migrations
