@forest yes that's the one, why doe she have to be wearing a short skirt yet wear a mask? did mosquitos not survive the apocalypse? @FaheemMitha gibberish? sounds like you are cyber bullying me because you are jealous that i am emotionally special (gifted)

7:14 AM
@FaheemMitha it's ok, im used to this sort of thing being a TI (Targeted Individual) the NSA are targeting me because they need a new colleague drop out to invent another facebook

@FaheemMitha but in all seriousness, it depends upon which part you consider gibberish, although both forest and i made some dark humor jokes regarding the death of Ian Murdock, his apparent suicide was indeed suspicious, so was that of Arron Schwartz (I;m hoping i spelt this correctly)
There have been many lengthy papers outlining how to make an extra judicial killing appear forensically to be an accident or suicide, this is something far from fiction
murder* sorry i don't know where extra judicial killing came from, the stack exchange spell check must be down

Can we please try to at least pretend this chat room is about Unix and Linux?

@AdamLedger Ah, a belated response. No cyber bullying intended.

@terdon i will refrain from diverging from topic intended, @FaheemMitha that was just a joke, even when i was physically beaten in high school, i was always the instigator, and knew exactly what was about to happen to me. So I'll speak as i am typing complete non sense, knowing full well that some of it will be met with criticism

Question: normally when I read messages, that little box on the right hand bar clears. But it was still (5) after I read the messages for the last couple of days, and now it is showing (8) even though I have again read all the messages.
Oh, it looks like they have changed the rules to require me to view it in context.
Well, that's a more tedious option, and rather pointless, I think.
Oh, and the question is what I do about it. But that's redundant now. Sorry for the noise.

12:30 PM
@FaheemMitha I think you can also click on the tiny envelope icon on the right-hand side of the message in order to mark it as read.

@JeffSchaller Ah, good tip. Thank you. I'll try to remember that.

@jesse_b I think I've heard it said that Lavarand itself mostly got the randomness from the sensor noise of the camera and the lava lamp was pretty much irrelevant. Which basically makes sense if a covered sensor can do the same as one looking at moving blobs.
@jesse_b this doesn't sound like it makes any sense at all. What are those sources?

12:49 PM
@JeffSchaller I'm fairly sure that wasn't necessary before.

see above if you'd missed it
i.e. the changes are on purpose, I suppose some/many like them. There's also the "Mark all read" link at the very top of the inbox popdown.

@ilkkachu Thank you for the link. I don't follow Meta Stack Exchange.
@ilkkachu They might be an improvement, yes. I hadn't given any thought to it. I was just thrown by the behavior change.

@JeffSchaller @FaheemMitha there's also a "mar all as read" option, and clicking on the message will also mark it as read. Personally, I find this very useful since it lets me see a message but leave it for later without forgetting.
It's also featured:

@terdon Thank you for the pointers.
@terdon Yes, I see it's featured. I wasn't paying attention.

Is the swap cache located in the swap area? If not, where is it?
Second question: does the swap cache contain pages as well as the swap area contains page slots? Or is it more like a table which addresses a physical page to a page slot in the swap area?

@AdamLedger Because it was only the spores in the forest which were toxic.
@Curio What do you mean? Swap is just a partition where pages of memory can be moved. They can still be accessed as virtual memory (the kernel manages the mapping between memory pages and sectors on the swap partition), but the pages are in the non-resident set, meaning they have to be swapped back in to be accessed.
