I have a "friend" on Facebook, someone who I haven't talked to in I don't know how many years. He likes to post links to articles and stuff. I don't mind that. But recently I've found that everything he posts gets sent to me multiple times. Is this Facebook just getting mad(der)? Or is something else going on? Anyone else seeing this? It's becoming something of a nuisance. Facebook water torture spam.

For example, right now I just deleted 11 instances of the same post. And there might be more waiting for me.

Regular spam (which I currently get plenty of) is bad enough.

Their algorithms do some weird stuff. I think if you have interacted with any of their posts or even possibly just if you have been looking at them you will start seeing more

You should be able to click on the options button of one of their posts and there are usually a few options like "see less from <PERSON>"

or you could unfollow them altogether which will allow you to still be friends with them but you just wont see their posts

This is a relatively recent thing. Maybe the last couple of weeks. I forget.

@jesse_b I know the person in question. He's not a lunatic. He wouldn't have posted the same thing 11+ times (for example).

The post in question was complaining about road work in Bangalore. They like to dig up roads here, often for no reason. Unless it is to harass the citizenry.
