@Pandya What??!!

4:58 PM
@Pandya you'd best ask on the site why your script doesn't work, that's where questions go :-P

@derobert From where I'm sitting, it doesn't look like anyone has a good thing to say about the Simpsons escapee. What about where you are?

@FaheemMitha the what?

@derobert Simpsons escapee. Aka the yellow peril.

Do you mean the orange one? Simpsons are yellow...

@derobert Orange/yellow. It's a range.
But sure, orange, if you prefer.

5:05 PM
I suspect he's making good money for the late night comedy show hosts. Other than that, no, nothing good.

@derobert Ok. Is there anyone in the media with a good word to say?
Looks like he tore up some trade agreement.

And who knows, maybe Twitter can monetize his feed, and turn the company around. Profits could be right around the corner!
@FaheemMitha Well, there is Fox News. I'm sure they have something good to say.

@derobert Ah. But do you watch that?

No.
washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/01/24/… ← well, I'm sure someone is saying good things about that.

> The Standing Rock Sioux tribe and other Native American groups have been protesting the project, which they say would imperil their water supplies and disturb sacred burial and archaeological sites.
Hmm. It's rare these days to hear anything about Native Americans.

5:10 PM
Hmmm. Probably less rare if you live here. They've been fighting the pipeline for a while.
But! In good news, I got a Raspberry Pi to use as a music player.

@derobert I see. But they don't get much mention at all in news generally. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

Sick of the existing players (receiver, Chromecast) not handling gapless right

@derobert I thought the cognoscenti didn't think much of the Pi as a computing device.
Or as a multimedia device.
@derobert gapless?

The analog output on it is apparently worthless. But I just need a digital signal over HDMI, so it's fine for that. At least once I manage to figure out how to get bitperfect output.
@FaheemMitha without pauses between tracks

@derobert Ah
@derobert Is it good value for money?
Apparently there is also something called Beaglebone.

5:20 PM
Yeah. Those would work too. Ultimately getting a pi was just easier. And with the whole setup being under $60, not like its much of a risk
Beaglebone Black is more expensive.
@FaheemMitha there are a bunch more linuxgizmos.com/…

5:37 PM
Apparently so. I though the Pi was pioneering.

> Need to get 1,229 MB of archives.
ok...

@Braiam hmmm, how much difference does it make? Haven't upgraded to 51 yet

@derobert debian hasn't built it yet

well, there is a beta in experimental. But yeah, I'm not upgrading until it hits unstable

@derobert 51?

@FaheemMitha Firefox 51

6:08 PM
@derobert It's up to 51?

yep

welp, Debian freeze is here!
@derobert actually, it hasn't been uploaded to alioth repository

6:42 PM
@FaheemMitha of course, there is this: randysrandom.com/president-trump-inauguration-tv-listing

7:03 PM
@derobert That doesn't seem particularly positive either. Unfortunately, this isn't a show. Unless we're all living in the Matrix. Which is definitely possible.
Maybe the Wachowskis should make a 4th Matrix movie.

No, not positive, just funny.

@derobert Moderately so.
If it was the Twilight Zone, it would end with a reveal that the new President is actually an form-changing lizard from outer space.

@FaheemMitha Nah, that's a Simpsons episode...

@derobert I don't recall any interstellar lizards on that episode.

Not sure what the Twilight Zone would reveal. It'd be less zany than that.
@FaheemMitha Close enough. They were aliens, at least.

7:07 PM
@derobert oh

...seems to be a weirdly-framed clip of it

7:56 PM
@derobert Having just watched a clip of the swearing-in (which made my blood run cold) I stand corrected. He really is orange.
