@terdon into somewhere else (into another application like web-browser, gedit etc.). btw, Should I make it gnome-terminal specific by tagging to as I use gnome-terminal frequently?

@Pandya no

@Braiam I was little confuse because as said "It depends on your terminal." and I uses gnome-terminal

@Pandya some terminals offer utilities to have clipboard functionality, but so do shells and pseudo-shells.

So, I've two option 1.-make it to gnome-terminal specific and 2.-leave as it is (generic for any terminal) . I think 2nd option can be (broadly) helpful to others also.

if you asked that from the start.... and as far I have memory gnome terminal isn't very featureful

Q: Will Linux ever erradicate the GUI/HCI snobbery?

mezamorphicWhy are Linux users obsessed with typing commands to do the most trivial tasks a toddler could perform on Windows? When texting a friend, do you type commands through a terminal? No When withdrawing money from an ATM, do you type commands through a terminal? No When using a self-service till in...

Why do people think it is constructive to come here and rant against Linux? If you don't like it, don't use it. Obviously, we find it better or we wouldn't be using it. I'm not about to go on Super User and rant against Windows' crap. I just don't use the horrible thing.

I don't understand why people say Linux when clearly they mean Unix. Or Unix-like.
Wow, that's a lot of downvotes. Clearly hit a nerve.

It's not a question, it's insulting to all of us (and from someone who thinks that Windows is a decent UI for Pete's sake!). Of course it got downvotes.
Hell, I know people who've used Linux for years without ever touching the command line. Plus, installing software in windows is a pain in the ass. It is far simpler to do in Linux.
There are even one-click GUI tools for it.

@terdon Well, it could just have been closed. Yes, it is silly, but is not spam.
-6 is spam territory.
Maybe a -1.

@FaheemMitha Or rant.

@terdon Personally, I enjoy a good rant. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Granted, this isn't a good place for it...

5:47 PM
I didn't actually downvote but I can understand why others did.
It is not only a horrible question for the site, it is full of erroneous assumptions and misconceptions, and very aggressive one sided viewpoints.

It certainly is totally off-base. He/she should go to AU to find GUIs in great profusion. Screenshots galore.
@terdon Agreed.

Linux users are "obsessed" with typing commands. Please. Windows users are obsessed with doing everything in a bloody GUI.
Then, the OP simply has no idea what he or she is talking about, see the whole spiel about installing software, a process that is actually far more complex under Windows.
Let alone uninstalling, dealing with the registry and all that crap.

I use whatever makes sense for the task...

That ^^

@terdon Actually, I thought you can do the one-click and the kitchen sink stuff. But I don't use Windows.

5:50 PM
More to the point, if you don't like this system we're offering you for free, don't use it. Why in the world would you want to come and rant at the people who prefer it?
@FaheemMitha You have to go online, find the program you want, download it, double click it, accept the warning, then click OK, choose yes, click OK again, and again, and again, until you're finally through the bloody wizard and then its installed.

@terdon Well, maybe he/she thinks he/she is teaching us something. Or a wake-up call. Whatever. People can be strange.
@terdon I'll take your word for it. <shudder>

Compare that to sudp apt-get foo or even using the GUI frontends like synaptic or Ubuntu's package manager and their 1-2 click installs.
@FaheemMitha I think the latest Windows has some sort of app store, it might be easier these days.

meh, if I had 20k I would already voted to delete that thing

@terdon oh. I guess they are learning from Apple.

@Braiam Not yet, let him get his downvotes first >:)

5:54 PM
@terdon lol
@terdon You have a mean streak. :-)

:)

Maybe one day I will post a question telling people that I have seen the light, that Windows is the true way, and that they should all repent of their sins.

@FaheemMitha You, I will downvote. Him, I didn't.

Then I'll place bets on how many downvotes I get.

:)
