@Izzy, @DanHulme, @DeathMaskSalesman, @Firelord and other regulars- Hi. Popped in today after three months and I am afraid that being away is going to be the mode for me (regrettably , though, on account of other commitments). Wishing all the regulars and the site the very best

@beeshyams aww
it's nice to see you back here for now though!

Thx @DanHulme
@DanHulme: Just checking , though I guess answer is going to be negative. Is it possible for me to request mods to use my rep for setting up bounties for low rep users, without my involvement. ?

1:18 PM
@beeshyams That's a charitable thought, but it's not possible. Mods don't have the power to create bounties on someone else's behalf.

@DanHulme: Guessed as much- thanks anyway

@beeshyams let me throw in my full weight with everything @DanHulme just stated: glad to see you back (sorry it's only for short)!

Just keep hold of your rep for when you have more time to enjoy the site!

Exactly! It's like a bank account, but usually has better interest :)

Thanks @izzy :)

1:24 PM
@beeshyams Hey there. Glad to see you back, even if for a short while. I'm about to take my leave as well.

Hi @DeathMaskSalesman: Glad to see you too. Yet tu ...

What's going on here? Farewell party? Why are you all leaving?
Guess "Real Life" is calling?
I've heard that's quite a time consuming game … #/
Know you're always welcome to drop in, even for short time (as @beeshyams now).

yep

@Izzy- for me, I have other things to devote myself to ( I even quit working for that ) and this site is too much of a distraction- I can ill afford. By nature, I find it easier to quit something rather than moderate my involvement

Q: Should we create one or more tags for "power saving mode"?

Dan HulmeWe have quite a few questions about the various "power saving mode" features in different phones. Some of them are about the feature in base Android available since Marshmallow or so. Others are about the "ultra power saving mode" that seems to be a Samsung-specific features. The existing questio...

2:31 PM
@beeshyams Yupp, full ack – same on my end usually. Even without knowing its nature: I wish you much success with it, it must be real important. And kudos for being that consequent!

Hi, sorry for the intrusion but I'm having trouble rooting my samsung device.
It would be really nice if anyone could give me any tips:

Q: "Unsupport dev_type" on CF-Auto-Root

That Brazilian GuyI just bought a Samsung Galaxy On7 G600FY (o7lte) and I'm trying to root it. When I try to flash the autoroot using Odin, I get a Unsupport dev_type message on the device screen. What I've done Successfully flashed a custom TWRP recovery using Odin. Backed up the whole system with TWRP. Downl...

Thanks @izzy:)

3:14 PM
@beeshyams Et tu, beeshyams.
I feel that there's not much for me to do or answer here, especially now that increasingly more people decide to stay stock, instead of exploring the world of custom ROMs.
I may pop up sometime, though.

@DeathMaskSalesman : well I did and do appreciate your insight and help on many things- all the best

3:27 PM
@DeathMaskSalesman Not me. My only "stock" device is a tablet – because 1) I use it as ebook reader only and 2) there are no custom ROMs for it anyway :)
All my phones are running Cyano/LOS
Ugh. Did I shock him away?

3:39 PM
I would like to think of something we can do to make the site more interesting for our regulars. Nobody gets excited over the "how do I use WhatsApp" questions.

1 hour later…
4:58 PM
@Izzy I could use a tablet for the same purpose, yes.
@DanHulme I wholeheartedly agree with what you said, but I'm afraid that StackExchange, as a framework, may not be flexible enough for a distinction between casual and expert questions.

@DeathMaskSalesman well, that's a big problem for SO. I think even having more expert-level questions would make things better, or just more participation around them.

5:26 PM
@DanHulme On this same topic, we could say that we see seldom expert-level questions because expert users tend to invest a lot of time in searches and in trial-and-error procedures.

@DeathMaskSalesman also, because expert users don't flash the ROM for the wrong phone and then ask for help fixing it :-)

5:46 PM
@DanHulme And because expert users don't try to edit an updater-script to remove device-identifying asserts and then flash, leaving them in the situation you described. #D

yep

4 hours later…
10:05 PM
@DeathMaskSalesman And if our experts didn't figure, noone can answer those questions then – so many of those questions are left unanswered.
@DanHulme LOL Yeah, the clear face-palm moments where one hand isn't enough :)
