What do we do in cases like android.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/46856

where a person has the same question as the OP and has tried the solution but found it didn't work.

@Peanut Had he put that as answer, we'd VTD it with a comment like "star it, bounty it, upvote it", probably. I he had more rep, he could have made that a comment (something we still could do for him). The alternative would be he should ask a new question, refer to this one ("showing research effort" should even give him "extra points"), and explain why that doesn't work for him.

With no means of communicating with the user, we might use the "middle approach" (converting the edit into a comment).

Just "thinking aloud", second opinions welcome!
