I find android 'anti virus' to be sketchy at best

"This comment has an app, download now to view content"

They don't scan the content of the apps, they just have a list of 'Bad' 'Poetntially bad' and 'good' apps really and match against that. If it sees 'com.android.rossc.dodgyapp' it alerts you to the level of risk it has

Those AV apps generally cause more trouble than they solve. False positives (wasn't it Avast which even declared the Android system incl. Google apps malware?), selling spying on your personal data to 3rd party (well, they need to live; and this selling stuff was just on the news lately – though that strangely got not much response)
