@Izzy Well, since I quite like the app apart from that battery problem, and native apps are usually pretty handy, I was more looking for a way to "harness" that one. And yeah, that weird pipe thing was mistyped with my phone.

@Ariane Sorry, I'm afraid in that case you cannot be helped much. :(

@Izzy I think know you know Tasker? Fancy weighing in on the last bit of my answer here android.stackexchange.com/a/49711/12357 I'm not sure whether it's possible or not with Tasker.
11:15
@Peanut Checking...
@Peanut AFAIK not with the Volume buttons. The only hardware button Tasker directly supports is the camera button. At least at the last time I checked.
Ah, tilt: Yes, you could do so with shake/turn/... I could imagine a task firing when you turn the phone with the display down, and then turn it around again within a given time frame (double-action to prevent accidentally firing). Not sure about a shake-pattern, never tried that, but could be possible as well: Shake twice, then wait, and shake twice again within 3 seconds, or the like. Or shake twice, then turn around.
Or any other combinations which are feasible with the user in the given condition.

He could check for a change in volume.
But I imagine it's useless if it's at 0% and he presses Vol Down, or 100% and Vol Up.

@geffchang I'm here
@jeffreylin_ Hi there.
Is the Enable Superuser checked?
user43095
Yep
What else have you tried clicking?
user43095
Install SuperUser into /system, reinstall, switch SU app, remove other SU apps, full unroot
12:34
Could you install Root Checker by Joeykrim? It's free
user43095
Already did. It reports as not rooted
In that case, you lost root access
You will need to root it again
Did you upgrade the ROM, by any chance?
user43095
How? So that I don't do it next time
user43095
I screwed around with ClockWork
Do you still have ClockWork there?
user43095
12:37
ROM manager, yes. Recovery, no. Mostly because I can't find a recovery for gingerbread
user43095
I do have TWRP though, but the buttons have no text on them?
I'm not familiar with TWRP. :(
Do you have important data there? Do you have a backup?
You may need to flash root that's compatible with your ROM.
user43095
No important data, used for calling and playing games.
user43095
Thats fine.
user43095
Will I need a computer?
12:41
Probably better if you do it with Odin on the PC.
Since you don't have root, mobile apps can't root it
How did you root it in the first place? Using computer?
user43095
Yeah. That was about a year ago.
user43095
Can I not have SuperUser with the ROM? So that I can update it if needed?
Well, I suppose you need to go over again. Flash with Odin. :)
You have Galaxy S, right? Not Galaxy S4?
user43095
And thanks for your help today. If you add this into the answer (perhaps with a conversation bookmark) I'll accept it.
user43095
Yeah
12:46
Wait... Don't go yet.
user43095
Ok
You don't need to flash ROM with that
Just run the tool.
I imagine you can also use SuperOneClick
Anyway, I will update the answer.
user43095
Ok then.
user43095
Oh wait, I have galaxy s 4g
12:50
Oops
You'll be fine with SuperOneClick: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
You don't need to flash new rom
user43095
Thanks, I'll accept answer when I come back in a couple of hours. Bye!
OK. No problem.
user43095
Ah ok
13:53
@Peanut BTW: I've added my Tasker answer to that Q :)
Do anyone know of a "Safe mode boot" ? I just discovered that on my phone by long pressing "Power Off" on the power menu... (Jelly Bean 4.1, my phone is Xperia SP)
I am also just rooted, it is the stock rom without ANY modifications

Q: Is it against rules to add 2 tags one of which is a subset of the other

user93353My question (link here) originally had a htc tag. Then another user edited it to remove htc and added htc-desire-x instead. I felt both the tags are relevant and added htc back. But the user again edited my post to remove htc. I was wondering if it's against rules to have both the tags in a quest...

14:30
@Shywim Simply check the tag wiki to find out more :)
@Izzy Ah, yes, thanks !
15:00
@Shywim You're welcome :)
15:40
@geffchang That's how my app does it, you still get a report about volume change if it stays at 0 and volume down is pressed, just need to keep track of the previous volume and do if(currentVolume <= previousVolume) then count it.
and @Izzy yep saw that, +1 for you. I keep meaning to get around to buying Tasker and setting up some at home/work stuff.
@Peanut To me, those few bucks are much cheaper than coding something myself. And it covers so many things... :)
