@SPArchaeologist Well... It's a Talbetop room, but I'm sure no one's going to complain about any MMO stories either.
If they're good, anyway :)
bear in mind we are a crowd that plays RPGs and not necessarily MMOs, so some of it might go over our heads
but sure, non-RPG stories is something i'm tentatively ok with here!

@doppelgreener well, I had UO in mind - which as some may know is already pretty different than most of the mmo that run the market today. Also, the server I was playing on was a rpg-themed one, and for some time I was a sort of Seer on that one too (seers where the staff members that managed events and quests for players) so I still remember some stories from those times. We had no dices, no tables but the story was still there.

@SPArchaeologist If you were roleplaying using an MMO as a medium then that would fit, certainly.
Diceless and/or freeform RP is still RP.
Things that happened that were not RPing and more like, say, "we took this dungeon and this thing happened!" may not be as good of a fit, but I don't mind it either. It is, as Doppel said, mainly that it has a good chance of going over people's heads.
As an example of an MMO-related RP story... my favorite bit of RP from GW2 is the time my asura necromancer got to enter a cooking contest. :)
@Pixie Well, there were some events that weren't rp at all. I still remember the players reaction when we had the very bad idea of trying to replicate Diablo cow level in UO. But, while funny, that one doesn't exactly seem a good story to tell.
Especially because it can shortened to "All dead, flame war starts"
(but it may be a good example of "when gm tells you not to run and be careful, please listen")
Necromancing and goleming are jobs, her hobbies... but cooking is her passion. Now, Vexxa is a blunt person who doesn't care what people think about her sewing dead stuff together and reanimating it, or... anything else, really. Unless it's going to get her something she wants or make thing easier for her (in which case she does know how to be charming), she's pretty frank and unconcerned with impressions.
@SPArchaeologist Yeah, I'm not sure how something like that would go over.
I've never played the game and would not understand at all. :P
So Vexxa... is a tiny little thing with giant red eyes and a mouth full of sharp little teeth who says whatever comes to mind. She's creepy (but adorable). In spite of this, she loves to cook and to feed people. She will almost throw food at you. She may sometimes do so after she has told you about her latest experiment and then fail to see why you're so queasy. :P But if people can get over the idea that the same hands that necro are the ones that baked that cake, she's an amazing cook.
I never really got to do anything with this, though, besides foisting lemon bars on my boyfriend's characters, ICly and OOCly. Oh yeah, and a guy from the Inquest (an evil organization that Vexxa despises with a passion) once promised to convert if she gave him donuts. :P But overall, I didn't get as many opportunities to explore it as I would have liked.
Then one day I managed to find a cooking RP event. Stuff like that is so rare! A huge chunk of RP events are human noble-centric, courtly intrigue and the like. There are also a couple of trading companies out there, and there's like a crime underworld community if you're into that. There isn't much else. The cooking event was so fun.
I got to describe an awesome trifle and got, I think, second or third place. That didn't really matter so much as the fact that the character was so genuinely excited and invested in everything in ways I'd never gotten her to be before. Really left me longing for more quirky RP events that fell outside of the scope of "humans, mostly rich ones." :P
