06:23
I rub some sticks together to keep the room warm.
d
wait a minute, i can't just rib sticks, i need kindling
i roll to create the best pile of kindling
d
fates oppose
d
06:24
i have the best pile of kindling that has ever been made. time to set it ablaze:
d
MIGHTY SUCCESS
I take MASTER OF THE FIRES 2, and I have 1XP spare.
07:12
I will attempt to extinguish your fire, because it's there.
d
Boom, owned.
I rebuke your attempt to touch the fire!
07:17
Ok, new plan. I will do a raindance!
d
The weather resits my attempt to manipulate it:
(I spend 1 xp and take Guardian of the Fire 3)
07:18
!!
I suggest you get a light sprinkling and the fire spits a bit.
I figured 3 was fair since it's pretty tough to control the weather, but aw yeah!
Also, I take Rain Dancer 1
that's Rain Dancer 2!
Oops, my bad
And you have 1 XP.
I build a shelter over the fire.
d
07:22
I will try to destroy the shelter with Acid Rain!
2d
The universe probably resists that too:
4d
Dammit...
Ha-haaaa!
I roll to see if the Universe is on the side of the Fire.
2d
07:25
(or should that just be 1d?)
I dunno, I was trying to work out the opposing roll
Let's just oppose with a straight 2d?
... i say that having rolled a 9, but it's still roughly even either way
or +1 dice for the universe's impartiality
07:33
!!
That explains why it resisted my attempts so strongly - it's on your side
There's only one thing for it, I'm going to try to make it rain neutrinos
2d
Universe resisting:
0d
It's raining neutrinos
GG
07:35
This rain of neutral and virtually undetectable particles has a neutral and virtually undetectable effect on our fire!
Alright, time for phase 2
Also I spend my 1xp and obtain the skill COMMUNER WITH THE UNIVERSE 3
I try to have 1 neutrino create a chain reaction that extinguishes the fire
1d
The opposing roll is based purely on the odds of this actually happening:
9d20
07:36
11
17
20
10
19
7
8
2
8
Hmmm....no idea what skill I get out of this...
You can summon useless neutrinos at will, clearly
Cannot control neutrinos 2.
Which is to say, you can summon neutrinos at will.
@BESW I like that one.
Failing on this skill means you control neutrinos.
07:39
@BESW I like it too,.
@BESW I was just trying to come up with a use...
The scenario where you were deliberately attempting not to control neutrinos is a bit hard to fathom
Right now I have...
Do Anything 1
Master of the Fire 2
Guardian of the Fire 3
Communer with the Universe 3
@Miniman It's a bit strange, and more suitable for silliness.
(Last game I ran, one PC had the running them of pessimism and being convinced he couldn't do anything.)
(For example, he succeeded handily at being unable to find clearly marked exits.)
@Miniman Hmm.... When you attempt to control Neutrinos, roll Can't control neutrinos. If you succeed, you're unable to control them and probably wind up feeling a bit silly. If you fail at your task, you somehow control neutrinos, but they didn't help you do what you wanted to do.
@doppelgreener This sort of thing really highlights why you need a GM to adjudicate effects of failed (and even successful) rolls.
Psh, we can negotiate something silly between ourselves.
07:47
Well, seeing as how it's getting towards 6 I might just go home, your fire will burn unquenched, guarded by the universe itself against extinguishment.
I've found that RFS works more smoothly the more I integrate multiple strategies for action resolution and actively choose them from roll to roll as appropriate.
Often I prefer to narrate success and to ask the player to narrate failure, rather than the other way 'round.
@Miniman Yaaayyy!

1 hour later…
09:01
Must the stories be about tabletop RP? Or I can include mmorpg too?
