Q: How can I run a custom .sh script at each startup (without native init.d support)?

iBugThis looks like a general concern of rookie Android system players who have just rooted their phones. The most prevalent method may be throwing your script into /system/etc/init.d. If the ROM supports init.d then Voila but that's not always the case. So How can I run my custom script at each sta...

Q: How can I run a script on boot?

Naftuli KayI'm accustomed to running scripts on boot in Linux, but I'm not sure how to do this in Android. I'd like to start my SSH daemon on start, so I'll always be able to connect. How can I run an arbitrary script on Android boot? It'd be preferable to do this outside of Dalvik.

@iBug Fine by me. Your question and any answer to it would fit within the range of answers to that older question.
I noticed that you used them to close vote a question very recently. I had thought of looking for a merge but got busy in answering another question.

@Firelord Yep. It was when I was looking for a duplicate source that I noticed that those questions could be merged.

@PramodGarg Ugh, what?
@beeshyams I wouldn't exactly object – but then I wouldn't merge them either. Both have a lot of answers, so a merge would create a "monster". I'd leave a comment on the question with "also see <link to other question>" to "connect" the two.

@Izzy you could close as duplicate to achieve that

@DanHulme Yupp. That would carefully care fully :) Though I had the conflict of deciding which one to close, as both have a load of answers.
