@Pureferret: I'll be away then. Good luck.
ruda.almeida
I've got a tablet running ubuntu. At least that's what it thinks...

17 hours later…

5:20 PM
@ce4 Hello?
Liam W
5:37 PM
I've been having fun installing Android x86 onto my Asus notebook ;)
Runs really well actually!
ce4
5:55 PM
Hi @Pureferret
@LiamW All else would be a shame (x86 vs. ARM cpu power) :-)
Liam W
6:13 PM
@ce4 lol ;)
2 hours later…
Pureferret
8:19 PM
@ce4 Yo! I'm all backed up
Do I want to just flash the CM image on?
ce4
Hi!
If you desire so :-)
@ce4 <= You need those 3 things on your sdcard partition
From then on it's rather easy:
oldwiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/…
Method via Recovery, starting at "3."
Pureferret
@ce4 AHHH
ce4
?
Pureferret
got you
I was going to flash the image on via Heimdal
ce4
Nope, don't
Pureferret
8:22 PM
good thing I didn't
Well I can't connect to my phone in Linux
:(
ce4
Just load those 3 .zip's, then boot to CWM, then 'install .zip from sdcard'
You don't have to, just use your phone to load those 3 files
(I assume you have Wifi)
Gapps, are around 90, cm is 150megs, and the radio is <5megs or so
Pureferret
@ce4 Genius
ce4
:-)
Pureferret
Hmm perhaps I shouldn't have wiped it then....
As it's not booting anymore
ce4
You can always use an SDcard to load the .zip's
(just for the information)
Pureferret
8:30 PM
@ce4 I can't get the SD card on to my PC
going to reflash with the CSM 5.5, put the files on the SD then try again
ce4
I meant, insert a real micro-sd card into your S2
yep, you can try that
Pureferret
@ce4 I don't have a spare
ce4
What's left, is to try to either get it booting the real android again
or
get adb working again
Pureferret
Uh it's just still loading
hung on the glowing S
ce4
How did you wipe it, btw?
Pureferret
8:39 PM
@ce4 CWM
ce4
ok
Try the latest kernel maybe
It's in the nightlies zip (as "boot.img")
get.cm/?device=i9100
flash via heimdall
Pureferret
gortcha
ce4
BTW: adb still not working?
Pureferret
@ce4 nope
Ehh, it won't turn on now
ce4
some more info? what did you do?
Pureferret
8:48 PM
flashed on the boot.img with heimdall, and it restarted to a black screen
won't turn on
ce4
then reflash the 5.5 cwm?
Pureferret
@ce4 I can try that again I guess
ce4
yeah, flash mode is independent of this
(if it's not completele misflashed, but even then there are options left)
Pureferret
@ce4 Just reflashed with CWM
ce4
ok, can you boot to recovery again? Does adb connect?
Pureferret
8:59 PM
just booted into recovery mode
no, adb does not connect
oops I flashed the wrong one
ce4
ok
Pureferret
just put 5.
5
on, instead of 5.
0
ce4
yeah
forum.xda-developers.com/…
This post has a CWM 6
But first try the 5.5
Pureferret
it has a bar saying 'Installing Applications'
weird...
@ce4 Ok I'm in
ce4
via adb?
@Pureferret ^^
Pureferret
9:11 PM
no no, cyanogen is ok
I think
ce4
ah, you're in to 'install CM'
Pureferret
hang on
Pureferret
9:33 PM
where do the files need to be?
ce4
adb ok?
Pureferret
nope
but I'm into android proper and I've downloaded them
ce4
ah
so they're all in /sdcard/Downloads or so
that's ok
Pureferret
awesome
ce4
what files did you download?
Pureferret
9:35 PM
into recovery mode then?
ce4
Not yet
You have all of these:
cm-10.1-20130113-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip
Modem_XXLS6-CWM.zip
gapps-jb-20121212...zip
If so, reboot to recovery
Then you can 'install zip from sdcard' in that order: cm, gapps, modem
then wipe
Pureferret
it's saying no files found
ce4
install zip from
internal
sdcard
Pureferret
I can only find the gap one
ce4
it's "install zip from sdcard" => "install zip from internal sdcard"
Pureferret
9:43 PM
@ce4 that's what I've done, but it only brings up three files and only one of them is correct
I'm going to boot back into android proper and make sure I downloaded them
ce4
yep
You need around 260MB space for all
Maybe that's been the reason
Pureferret
@ce4 I think I got them
ce4
At least cm-10.1-20130113-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip is necessary
If you're super paranoid, you can check the md5sums of the .zip files for their integrity
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fab.md5
And compare them to the given md5's on the respective web sites
Pureferret
10:08 PM
goo.im/gapps
@ce4 Doing that step now
ce4
cool
Pureferret
now I do 'wipe data/factory reset' ?
@ce4 ?
ce4
@Pureferret: Sure
Wait, all .zip's did install ?
Pureferret
@ce4 yes
ce4
All 3, i.e. cm, gapps, modem
fine
Let's hope for the best then :-)
Pureferret
10:24 PM
Well it has the right logo
ce4
Good! The 1st boot takes some extra time
Pureferret
yeah!
Not a fan of the 'theme'
will need to fix that
ce4
Finally! Yeah, you're free to do whatever you like now
mycolorscreen.com/popular
here's some inspiration
Oh, and btw: The theme needs some getting-used-to if you come from touchwiz, right
I meant, the UI (not theme). Try it a little, it has some nice features.
