I think the edit you've selected is appropriate @StrongBad, although in general I think some open criticism of the question asker there is appropriate, especially now that they've offered a bounty looking for an answer distinctly different from what's already provided...

@BryanKrause the text on the bounty reads to me like "I have a preconceived notion and all the answers say I am wrong, will someone write an answer that says my opinion is correct"

I find the OP's reasoning very strange (I wasn't being flippant when I asked about the statistical reasoning, because trying to transfer a 50-50-ish split among the general eligible voting population over to scientists, as if scientists would be a statistically representative sample, is bizarre)
