Have you got over 10k rep? If so, please could you have a look down this list, and cast votes to delete or reopen these as appropriate?
01:58
Oh, you're doing some cleanup... is that why I suddenly got a bunch of down-votes?

@jakebeal reputation changes due to questions being deleted would appear in your reputation history as "removed" not "down vote"

@ff524 I know... It looks like somebody was trying to zero out answers on closed questions

A: Free, open-source substitutes for Mendeley?

William GunnFirst of all, Mendeley is not a "proprietary social network". It is an open platform for sharing research with which some proprietary clients interact and with which some open source clients interact. There is an open source client for Mendeley (as well as other services) called Pubpeer: https:/...

as related to his previously deleted answer. It seems like a rehash, but the other answer has been deleted for a while.

@CharlesMorisset can you take a look at my previous comment.

@StrongBad: I maintain my comment, this is not an answer. It's a comment about how the question is not well-formed (which I can agree with), but there is already a comment indicating that.

@CharlesMorisset I like that. I agree that the answer is not an answer and is really just a rant about how Mendeley believes it is FOSS. It is also resetting the comments.

@jakebeal I routinely downvote answers on very bad questions, because answering bad questions gives the OP an incentive to continue asking bad questions, and prevents the roomba-bot cleaning up the bad questions automatically. I didn't intend to target any poster. If you had a lot of answers on bad questions that I found, then rest assured that the overnight bot will reverse my downvotes. Nothing personal, and I do value your many good answers on many good questions.

@EnergyNumbers while you are allowed to vote however you want, the general opinion is you should vote for answers based on their own merit:

Q: Is it okay to downvote answers to bad questions?

AstroCBI'm referring to this question in particular, where the question was clearly not of the best quality, but my answer to it addressed the issues with it. Is it okay to downvote an answer just because a question is bad, even if the answer addresses the issues with the question?

@StrongBad I do. That's exactly what I do. An answer posted on a bad question is not useful. It's harmful, because it rewards unwanted behaviour, and impedes the script that auto-deletes bad questions. The hover tip over the downvote arrow says "This answer is not useful".
