@CaptainBohemian The person to create a chat room automatically becomes its owner. Ownership can transfer depending on activity later. I am pretty sure that this doesn’t apply to a site’s main chat room though. Also note that room ownership only gives you power and responsibility; it does not make you better.
@CaptainBohemian No, but room owners are likely appointed, not just whoever was there first. You can see the room owners here. It’s the Physics mods plus John Rennie.
now I see the point I wonder to know: "the main chat for the site is a public resource for all the users. No one owns it, and time on the site does not convey any kind of priority."
earlier I saw in the storm someone said "I was here first" as an argument to drive out his enemy having conversation topic not in his favor. That made me consider people first coming to a chat room have superiority over later comers. I feel this quite absurd.
