@D.Hutchinson have you ever taken cold shower in chilly winter? That's really distressful experience. I feel freezing cold for many hours (over 7 to 8 hours) after the cold shower. The freezing interferes with my studying and makes me not able to fall asleep. I feel like not being able to make my body warm no matter what. I am seriously saying I hate cold shower, particularly in winter.
I don't really like roommates because I don't get along with usual women and don't like to share a bedroom with lewd men. But if the school arranges some female roommates who don't interfere with me, like not talking with me often, I don't really care.

@ff524 In response to this. Not to defend undergraduates, but I had once complained to another student if the teacher could try to stick to one format because I was reading them on a crazy old android tablet. Like revision 1 samsung galaxy tablet. Literally the tablet was so old that it had no multitasking and it would take like over 10 seconds to just switch between a pdf reader and .doc reader not to mention

@D.Hutchinson It's like I have never been in a non-academic group, but I can be ensure I can't tolerate being in a nonacademic group based on the eavesdrops I hear on the street. Nonacademic people generally smoke and speak vulgarly. Also, eating is never the highlight of my activities. I actually have no interest in purely going to eat. I only like to go eating by the way of doing other really meaningful things.

Not sure how this relates to the printing part of the email, but that is the only frustrations I have experienced.

@D.Hutchinson And actually I usually only eat to solve hunger or make my body warm in winter, particularly after cold shower. I seldom eat just for groumet purpose.

To be fair I'm only assuming they are an undegraduate.

Q: Handling of adjacent brackets

LukasIn my PhD-thesis I find myself quite frequently introducing new acronyms by quoting some benchmark paper in which the term is used for the first time. To give an example: We use models included in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase five (CMIP5) (Taylor et al. 2012). By default ...

@CaptainBohemian, I am not that indifferent towards eating. I'm somewhere in the middle, between someone like yourself and the extremely basic bunches of people that surround us - the types that post Facebook and Instagram pictures of all their meals.
... like I said ... just scary to think that I'll be joining these people soon ... and that lunch is going to be the best part of my day ...
no exciting research meetings, that's for sure ...
how do people find meaning in their lives, if they are not academics?
one way is to start a family
but with divorce rates so high, I am not hopeful about marriage and love
basically, I think I derive more happiness in academia than I will in industry
despite the higher salaries, @CaptainBohemian
industry seems like ... forced socialization
peer pressure to go binge drinking, hook up, find someone, get engaged, get married, have kids ... because everyone else is doing that ...
but all of that, being propped up by peer pressure, is done on a rocky foundation, and sooner or later things unravel and people get divorced ... industry life just seems so pointless and meaningless ...
anyway, yeah ...
