Asking as person who speaks Italian as first language: How could I make a question about the tense to use in a sentence more "answerable"?
For somebody who speaks English as first language, they are probably boring questions, but for somebody who does not speak English as first language, the difference could be enough to be confused.

May I suggest you visit the English Language & Usage chatroom and ask there.

Not for the faint of heart or those easily triggered by Englis...
For example, in Italian I would not use the past tense for I was born in 1970. I would say Sono nato nel 1970. (I am born in 1970.) To an Italian, saying the equivalent of I was born means I am now dead. What for somebody who speaks English as first language is obvious, it is not so obvious for an English learner.
@user85795 That is not for English learners.
I ask for a question I could ask on ELL; not on ELU.
Actually, I am also interested on how those questions could be improved, on ELL.
