In written English (mainly online) I often come across sentences ending with a question or an exclamation mark with a space before it. Is it always just an error or a typo? Or there are cases when it is a correct English, for example after closing parentheses or some other punctuation marks?
The comments in this post by the moderator had really hurt me (that was, a long time ago, by the way). But now I see why they point that some Indians do this. I found this post today, by an Indian. If one can think about such usage, what's the harm in actually using it?

I see. Hmmm. I always thought that was a formatting etiquette. In my experience I have seen many people write with irregular spaces or no spaces before or after punctuation mark. In official or no official written communication.
Well when I said many people I meant Indian people.
I however didn't see similar bad formatting from people outside India. At least from people I had the fortune to collaborate
Neither do I do such thing unmistakably. Because I remember when I was a child my dad asked me to type on MS word and it highlighted whenever bad formatting was there on the text. I used to correct them. So I think that had a lasting effect on me and I generally write it that way by intuition.
