Well, the society tells today's talentless folks that it's okay to be a talentless loser, as long as you're proud of it. You're entitled fun and games in your life and only your feelings matter. Halt all progress in case it'd make you look like a dorky introverted sociophobe. After that mentality has been planted deep, they're content in every way but one: They don't have a purpose, and they want to 'improve' the world or fight what they believe in without too much effort.

Human beings have to care about something. So in the absence of something meaningful, you get metal music or games or whatever to root for.

@NoseBleed If you don't mind me correcting the English (this is the ELL chat after all), the preposition you want is "with". Although people often spell it out, "good luck with your exams", because "good luck with that" might sound sarcastic, often on the internet when you don't hear the voice

SE chats are a good venue to get better. Read, then write. Rinse and repeat. Read a novel, use two of the eighty new words and two of the new sentence structures you liked in chat. Then read again.

The thing with English learner books is, they confine you to what they're teaching you. So it's either gonna have infinite pages or it's gonna have you miss out on some cool stuff you can say in English
