Could a (+1, –1, –1, ..., –1) vector reasonably be called a one-hot vector?
When I use the term for the first time, I put it in quotes and say "but with negative ones instead of zeros", and I continue using quotes.
I saw somewhere the term "±1-bit vector", but that terminology is confusing because even after reading this paper I thought it needn't have a single +1, and could have more; i.e. only after truly understanding all the formulas I realized what they meant.
I just spent 2 weeks trying to understand an academic paper. That said, I didn't have any prior knowledge required to read it, as in, I only ever heard about some stuff related to that subject.
Well, "2 weeks". Effectively 1 week, OK, but I was still worried while I was procrastinating!
I found like 20 mistakes only to realize (after I contacted the author, 5 days before the deadline) that I'd been given some kinda draft version, preprint... And then the author sent me like 10 other papers for me to study in order to really "grok" his.
