Q: Yes, I think the "Company" is right on the track of the course

Kentaro Donates For MonicaHonestly, the company, who is investing money into the community has the upper hand for this Monica issue. Pronoun or noun, the board over the moderators changed the C of C. I'm not in for user `@J.R and @Colleen departed ways, or rather, we are not having free lunch but required to pay the due f...

I'm looking for sentence dictionary. Do you suggest any book or reliable website?

What do you mean by sentence dictionary?
idoms?
05:11
@AIQ, I'm looking for website that puts vocab (noun, verb, adjective) in meaningful sentence. It is hard to understand a word without a context.

oh I understand now.

Wow - while chatting with a friend, I wrote "I am not a grammatical person". What I wanted to say was "I am not good at grammar."
I need to sleep.

Q: If your dictionary doesn't support you (or me), what should I do?

Kentaro Donates For MonicaRecently I answered like this. What came to my mind first when reading the OP's question was, that the meaning of the word "affection" should be Merriam's 1 : any moderate feeling or emotion But second thought came to my mind, "wait!,there is a different meaning for affection", which is...

@AIQ Well, you can be the second grammatical person, while I shall remain the first.

Word of the day: modal window
Before buying a dictionary, I always check that it has pronouns included. That's how you avoid the problem Kentaro's facing now.

Before buying a dictionary, I always check whether I can get a pirated copy, and whether I have money for a licensed copy.
I'd be left wordless if my dictionary stopped supporting me.
@CowperKettle And then think about how much vodka (ofc) you can buy with all that money you've saved. (:
@CroCo Most dictionaries provide you with examples. Check Lexico, LDOCE, OALD, TheFreeDictionary, MW, MW's learner's dictionary...
19:02
No, I have to buy a new balalaika for my pet bear first
(:
@CroCo The next best thing you can do is check Google News/Books. You could also turn to corpora: iWeb (I think) is particularly aimed at learners, although it's more about finding the right collocations or something.

My FPS keeps dropping to 55. What do I do... I can't enjoy my game; it's unplayable.
The last game I played was Z
I played it in a browser window
@CowperKettle Z? Zzz.
Jk, never heard. I'll check it out.
Looks fun as heck.
I played AoE II when I was a kid, so that might be why.
I'm also talking about a browser game, though.
I'm gonna have to open my graphics card's control panel for the first time in my life.

Might be overheating a bit.

Thanks M.A.R.
I have always wanted to have a book shelf full of animal encyclos
It's exciting - animals
Kobe bryant thoroughly studied Sharks to beat Allen Iverson
Like first few games Iverson smoked him
Kobe went home - started watching how Sharks hunt
and all that
next game Kobe completely shut down Iverson in the second half
Why am I saying all this
Did you guys look at the "What a fuck!" question?
I really enjoyed answering that for some reason
Uffff the powerful message behind "But are you a different animal and the same beast?"
damn, I can read that all day long
Sorry I am blabbering
I can't stop
Strong coffee

Lol, what an ef underscore kay.
Or something like that.
Foo underscore kay.
@AIQ You really think that helped him? Perhaps as a motivation or something...
AIQ
AIQ
@userr2684291 wait wait who are you talking about? Are you asking if my answer helped OP or if studying sharks helped Kobe
I am making tooooo many typos today
I referenced the line where you say "Kobe completely shut down Iverson".
AIQ
AIQ
oh, sorry
yes, I believe it wholeheartedly.
Kobe is many things, but not a liar...
@M.A.R. Yeah, I don't imagine it's very common nowadays. Not paper ones, at least.

2 People - Kobe and MJ don't lie about these things.
There is a definite hunting strategy for many animals, Kobe studied sharks

I think anything's applicable if you want it to be. Something like religious texts.

There are very few who revolutionized bball
Iqaluit does not have any trees, the sewer lines are above the ground

I assume it's somewhere cold.

22:42
@AIQ For what it's worth, I don't think your answer is what the asker is looking for.
I'm talking in regard to the what a hell vs. what the hell question.
AIQ
AIQ
OP asked if there is a difference
between them
Okay, I've just now realized you actually used fudge instead of fuck.
Don't do that. There's no need to censor the word in the answer body. It's more about the title, I'd say. People who don't like seeing the word at issue won't click on the question in the first place. And if they have, well they might've clicked on something much worse.
By the way, lol at "There are really no rules when it comes to slags such as these".
AIQ
AIQ
well from Eddie Kal's meta post it seems there are people who would downvote at the sight of "fuck". So I took precautions
Anyhow, I absolutely disagree with user MaulikV's answer because what a hell/fuck isn't really a slang term (slang is a non-count noun, by the way), but even if it is, it hasn't (as per the comment underneath their answer) gained enough currency to be recognized.
AIQ
AIQ
yes, agreed
thats true - currency part
I should mention that in my answer
22:53
Yes. I wouldn't advise a learner to use that expression, as it'll scream "English isn't my first language". I suppose some may consider it goofy or idiosyncratic or non-native-ish, so if you want to keep that image I suppose you could keep saying it on purpose that way. It will be understood in the proper context, I'd say.
The expression in question doesn't break any grammar rules.
AIQ
AIQ
Which expression
Either.
AIQ
AIQ
I have actually heard "What a hell [this is or this place is]!" many times
It's an okay answer, I was just confused with the whole fudge thing, and I didn't like the endorsement of a misleading answer.
I wasn't sure why you'd talk about fudge at all.
AIQ
AIQ
I should mention in my answer fuck=fudge. I didn't endorse that answer fully, wait let me edit edit edit
The cold ever hurt you in the bones or joints? It kind of messes up left knee a bit ...
23:03
Don't think so.
Note that people who don't want to see the word fuck probably wouldn't like seeing words like dick or hell. Or idiot. Or sex.
The difference between what the hell? and what a hell! isn't subtle: the first is what you say when you're stumped or angry or experiencing an intense emotion or some such (dictionaries will do a better job at defining it succinctly); the second is an observation, and in this case on a more expressive side.
AIQ
AIQ
I know
I did write those things in my answer
Actually, now that I think of it, the first could also be used as an observation. More like some kinda meta... like, I'm expressing this emotion, perhaps I'm sorta "faking" it just to convey my perspective on this.
Yeah, it's an okay answer. Sorry about my initial reaction. I hadn't noticed the substitution until I hovered over the link and saw the last word in the URL.
Alright, gotta go now. Catch you later.
