I love cooking, but I don't have those fancy measuring cups, pans, knives, etc. I usually go by instinct than actually recipes - so I am a bit hesitant to join that community

@AIQ If you aren’t baking, you don’t need to measure

I don't have small bowls like this for ingredients ... I have my spices and things in their original packet - with a paper clip on

I have one knife

@AIQ It does the job though doesn't it? No-one but the cook knows whether spices came out of a bowl or packet ;) Frankly all those little bowls are just for the cooking shows so they don't waste time measuring everything out. A chef in his home or restaurant probably doesn't do that at all.

@snailcar If I want to ask a question that is motivated from different comments from different users, then should I ask in the main site or Meta? The answers to this question, I believe, may be opinion based. Also, another problem may be that I have a certain understanding of what the answer should be - but I have been told I am wrong. This means I will shape my question in a certain way, and risk downvotes from those who may not agree with my thinking.

But the purpose of the question is to find out if I am indeed wrong. I want to know that from good answers and from established users
