Oh @ColleenV Hi, remember I was saying how one user did not ever accept answers, I did gently point this out to him, as you suggested, in a comment and now he seems to be accepting answers. Also, J.R. followed my comment up with a comment of their own. So I guess it was worth the effort. :D

@AIQ That you don't just go ahead and post it, and contemplate and do your research and stuff shows that you're probably well in the way of posting great answers. Common reference material (maybe, I dunno, I don't hang around often anymore) would be CGEL, Swan's Practical English Usage, a few corpora (but you'd need some search fu for that), Google Ngrams, and SE posts on ELU
If you care enough, you will post high quality answers, and although FGITW is the fastest way to build up rep and they will be pretty annoying, you would eventually build up trust and rep
