@SamBC It offers you to migrate to the meta site, but you can choose the last reason which is "in need of moderator attention" and then mention the site you think the question belongs on.
@SamBC ...they probably don't. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. If there's actual evidence they're doing that, you can alert the mods (flag the comment where you think the described behavior is evident, and tell them exactly what you think is going on).
If it's Lambie, they're really just trying to help but they're also very stubborn and it's unlikely anything you say will change their opinion. Their word will always be last.

Q: You're taller than (it) is described (Is the omission of 'it' obligatory?)

listenevaIn an earlier question "You're taller than (is/are) described", there came up this issue of whether 'it' could be inserted as follows: a. You're taller than it is described. The grammar book that I have (Practical English Usage by Michael Swan) has this similar example: b. He worries mo...

@SamBC we don’t have migration paths set up to any other site, so a moderator would have to migrate it. You could leave a comment suggesting the other site and then vote to close. Keep in mind that we should only migrate good quality questions.
@SamBC Disengage. If someone is harassing you in comments flag for mod attention

Thx.
You don’t have to justify yourself to strangers on the Internet.

The one I have trouble with is people insisting on being demonstrably (not arguably) wrong - which I think is a particular trouble on SE sites!

@SamBC Don’t try to teach pigs to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pigs. Make your point and let them do with it what they will. Keep in mind that you’re writing for a much bigger audience than one person. Many people will read without commenting and will stop reading when the bickering starts.

@ColleenV good point, thanks.

> In the latter group of low-functioning autism our studies identified a prevalence of blocking FR autoantibodies between 55 - 59%. Our findings could be reproduced by Frye et al, who identified blocking type FRα autoantibodies at a rate of 60% in children with ASD (38).
What is the meaning of could be reproduced? "They have probably been reproduced, but we are not sure"?

Q: Meaning of "our findings could be reproduced" in a scientific paper

CowperKettleFrom The basis for folinic acid treatment in neuro-psychiatric disorders (Ramaekers et al., 2016): In the latter group of low-functioning autism our studies identified a prevalence of blocking FR autoantibodies between 55 - 59%. Our findings could be reproduced by Frye et al, who identified b...

@CowperKettle The data collected by the other study could be analyzed to support a hypothesis that it originally didn’t test for, but it seems strange without more context
Doh I really should scan all recent msgs before I start replying

That's very weird wording, but I answered.
21:24
@CowperKettle To me it just means "they reproduced it".
Weird? I dunno. When people start typing out a thesis they drown in a sea of overly complicated words so you'd think it'd twist their idea of weirdness. And reality.

Saw this on Twitter and thought y'all might enjoy the wordplay:
> People who can't distinguish between etymology and entomology bug me in ways I cannot put into words.
