I forgot whether I had asked this. A cell in a table: "500 packages, in 150 mL vials No. 1" - will the US/UK reader understand that No.1 means "one vial per package"?
This is a widespread practice in Russian pharmacology, to indicate the number of vials, tablets, etc. per package as No. 10, say (for ten tablets per cardboard carton)

@CowperKettle When I first read that I took it to mean a type of vial, not the number of them (vial type number 1), but I'm not very familiar with the pharma terminology
It may be OK in that context - I would have to look at other examples
I might say "500 packages of 1 150 mL vial" and "50 packages of 10 150mL vials" but it looks kind of awkward to have those numbers in a string... maybe "500 packages of one 150 mL vial", "50 packages of ten 150 mL vials"

Q: Display "link back" links on ELU questions someone has mentioned in an ELL question

ColleenVDuring a discussion on EL&U about a link to an ELL question that someone added in a comment, Laurel had an idea to show links on both sites if someone linked a related question on the other site: As long as these comments are done politely (as this one was), I think it's helpful to link to re...

@ColleenV Thank you! I think the "No.1" thing is peculiar to Russian pharmacology. I'd be surprised it if were also used in English.

Q: How to handle user making incorrect categorical statements?

Jeff ZeitlinI will acknowledge that the user whose comments I am complaining about is higher-rep than I am, and thus presumably more helpful and respected. Nevertheless, I have repeatedly seen categorical statements which I know, from direct and personal (admittedly anecdotal) experience are wrong, and often...

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Yeah.
@snailboat What about Bill's car door was a big disappointment? *Car is a noun that 'takes' door, right? Can the same pattern be applied to "stopping the project"? (By the way, to the extent that I understand your comment about b being a non-finite gerund clause, I agree with it.)

@Lawrence Yeah! Hell yeah!
Flag them for the moderation team if you feel that addressing the inaccuracy in a comment is likely to not be productive. It doesn’t really matter if the statements are correct or not, if they are controversial they belong in an answer where they can be supported and properly vetted by the community. — ColleenV ♦ 3 hours ago
What? Why?
Oh, flag to convert into answer . . .
If that was possible, I dunno
@Colleen your comment might give the implication users can flag for mod whatever they disagree with
"Hi modarator pls downrate dis anser"
