In an official document, do I write underline as applicable or underline whatever applicable if I want the filler-out to underline the option that he needs?

I don't know what they call it in English when a person just draws a horizontal line in the form's entry instead of writing some words there 🙂

@CowperKettle It's not something that I've run into much - usually there is a checkbox or we circle an option. I would understand "underline as applicable". Another option might be "mark/underline the applicable options".

Can I write Fill in the date if I want the user to fill in just a single date in a form?
Would that be understood by a US reader, or only by UK readers?
