@Catija It's a great word though... Now I just have to find a clever way to use it :)

Thanks @ColleenV, treasure is just what I need, because the next paragraph says :"and spend it on some woman " and I couldn't see the connection.

When I still went up the hill every year in voluntary camps of the Hill Tribe Club of my U, some children had to walk 2 hours to our school. Some even 4!

hi! what is the idiom or expression by which u can say that "u do not see/find the power in/within yourself to do sth (u dont feel like u are powerful enough)" ?

> After this, 1 µL of PNGase F solution was added (1:50 w/w enzyme:protein ratio), and the resulting solution was incubated for 18 h in a dry block heater at (37 ± 1) °C. After the 18 hours had passed, the solution was acidified by adding 1 µL of 10 % trifluoroacetic acid solution.
Am I right to use had passed (Past Perfect) here?
@parvin You are feeling that you are not up to the task.

Q: To be up for the task

Dmitrii BundinFor the Coach Karter movie: -- Nice to see you again, Mr. Karter. -- You too ma'am. If the offer still stands I'd like to coach the team. -- Well, I hope you're up for the task. These young men need discipline. I don't understand the exact meaning of that up for the task here. I could g...

Tomorrow is the last summer day in Yekaterinburg
After that, the weather will turn barmecidal
10:27
@CowperKettle I think "had passed" is fine, but I probably would say "After incubation, the solution was acidified..."
@V.V. The idiom beyond your wildest dreams is the clue. If you win 200 million in the lottery, you are probably "rich beyond your wildest dreams".
Hagu's photo
I never knew he took it
@ColleenV Thank you
My eye has been red for several days. Now I discovered that an eyelash grows too close to the cornea and now and then bends over and gets between the eyelid and the eye
Ouch.
Maybe I'll try asking on Facebook about "Damkerng T. living in Bangkok with a cat named Hagu" but I doubt that they will respond.

Hm.

I can't not think pessimistically about that situation, although he was absent for a couple of days before that, which might've been his "weaning off period". But even though I didn't know him well, he seemed the type of person who would've said something if he'd been leaving for good.
14:15
@userr2684291 whose situation? Dam's?
Well, you can think pessimistically about my sudden one-week disappearance
I ran into an extremely serious medical condition :(

@M.A.R. Are you okay right now?
@snailplane well, what constitutes "okay"?
Anonymous
Sorta intentionally vague so you can answer how you like.
@snailplane I will suffer this for the rest of my life, but I don't feel bad right now
It's apparently an anatomical anomaly
But we're not sure about that
It's kinda surprising I didn't fall into a coma last week, haha
Crazy levels of things in blood that shouldn't be there
I won't reveal further details because there's no point

Understood. But I'm glad you're still around.

I wonder if other languages have a set phrase like this one: idioms.thefreedictionary.com/Thank+God+for+small+favors
We have net khuda bez dobra (there's no bad thing without a good thing)
I'm glad you are with us, MAR

Nine Inch Snails is nice

That one made me laugh.
Meh At Work is nice
@M.A.R. I hope it's one of those things that will not decrease the quality of life.
16:24
@M.A.R. Oh, I was actually thinking about you because I hadn't seen you for a while either. Hope you're well now!
@M.A.R. Yeh.
16:38
@CowperKettle We have a similar, quite literal saying: "u svakom zlu neko dobro" or "za svako zlo neko dobro" (= for every...), but some people say it the other way around, haha.
This isn't exactly what snaiplane asked, and we'd talk about luck or lucky/attenuating circumstances.
16:53
We do have the opposite, more idiomatic saying: "k'o za vraga" ("as for the devil", "just like the devil would want it"), which is a remnant of a longer saying.
Which means that there were certain circumstances present which only made the situation worse.
17:20
@parvin You could also say "It is not possible for me" or "It is impossible for me to (do something)" or its variations. I use such simple language in real life. Cowper gave a good answer too.
Got pasted twice by mistake.
Internet acting up I guess.
Later.

> How long we shall fly yet, my raven mate?
The day is sunny, yet the year grows late.
Those bicyclists below, two bumbling specks,
They stop to hug and kiss each other's necks.

Are they a pair like us, and would they fly
If given wings and access to the sky?
I bet they'd trade them back for fear of shame,
And keep their love thus hushed, a secret flame.
18:56
@CowperKettle it actually does in popular opinion, but I have this interesting trait that I don't feel a downgrade in something's quality, mostly because I get puzzled wondering whether this is how things are usually, or that there's something wrong
Thanks all CC @Snail @Cowp @Userr I actually don't give a s**t about my situation. I guess I'm a happier person than most healthy people
This does still feel so sudden and like a dream, but apparently it has started since I was 3 or something. My body resisted the situation for 15 years because of, well, youth

Cute :-)
Good evening! Just found this one.
Pretty, isn't it?
sigh can't see it
I'm used to not seeing images now though
No?
No what?
19:18
No images at all?

Is imgur censored where you live?
I don't know.
@snailplane imgur has always been censored, but at some point, I.stack.imgur started to be blocked as well

I thought it was from this series of images: vmishchenko.com/#gallery-Snails
Anonymous
Although I don't seem to see it there.

He is Russian
@V.V. unless the image is not uploaded, and the URL is from a site where it's not censored
Which is, like, 5 percent of the images in chat now
@V.V. no I'm not O.O

The photographer is :-)
Lol, I meant a photographer.

Ahh
It was implied you meant me when the talk is about censorship
Which is a regional thing
@JimReynolds go find Damkerng before coming back
And people suffer from such things
19:27
@V.V. well I definitely do
YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, BBC, Reddit etc etc.
I found one person on FB with the same name, but I am not sure. O-o! That's awful.
I won't ever use FB, but anyway
Thank God Google isn't censored, heh
BTW, there are not many people with such a name.
@V.V. my name? Do you know my full name?
Or that photographer, haha
I meant DT
19:32
@V.V. oh, so confusing

@M.A.R. Your age is catching up to you, innit?
Stay hale and hearty, old boy! :>
