Interesting question there on "how had he lost weight?"
Im struggling to concieve a situation making this form felicitous
On Saturday we swam for half an hour in the sea before breakfast. The question is why not past continuous.
Because the speaker decided not to stress the continuity
The guy says there's a moment (before breakfast ), a period of time, I don't know.
Can we at all say "how had he lost weight?" in a standalone sentence like that?
