Q: "Targeted" vs "Pointed"

silvia margalefI've found this phrase: The police __________ 2100 alleged up loaders using peer-to-peer. I've got four possible answers: targeted aimed directed pointed I've already set aside "aimed" and "directed", but I can't see the difference between the remaining ones. I understand targeted to ...

There we go
@ColleenV Congrats! :D
@CowperKettle If you keep the commas, you're saying that it's a "recombinant trispecific antibody", including the full generality of that term. If you remove the comma after that term, you're saying that it's just one specific type of that antibody (one that has specificity against the things listed).
In the former, the list after the comma can be considered to explain why it's called a "recombinant trispecific antibody". In the latter, the list restricts the kind of "recombinant trispecific antibody" it can be.
15:26
@Lawrence Yes, I need the restrictive phrase there. That was my point.
Thanks for the comment
@CowperKettle You're welcome.
user233358
Howdy @Lawrence!
The translator I was editing should seriously consider changing their murphorientation.
@Arrowfar Hi!
@CowperKettle On second thought, my argument would be stronger if the original used "with" instead of "having". Removing the comma before "having" might render the sentence ungrammatical. This tends to bias the interpretation towards being interpreted as if it were the comma version, even when the comma is absent.
Whoa, @MAR isn't pingable even here? Anyone know where he's gone to? :(
15:36
@ShadowWizard @MAR is @DEAD
I mean, he changed his nickname to @DEAD
@DEAD you can't escape my pings! And that's a crappy last message to have...... :-P
Strangely, it does not auto-fill
@CowperKettle because he wasn't in the room for 7 days
Ah!
How time flies.
15:38
I hope he enjoys the un-connected world
Hope he's having fun, wherever he is. ;)
I wrote an answer instead of my code (as I should have!). :P
(Then again, I still can't think my code through. I still can't tie up some loose ends.)
@ShadowWizard o/ back!

> HMS Terror: Sir John Franklin's doomed ship found after 168 years underwater

"He kept the story secret because he didn't want people not to believe him," Mr Schimnowski said.
"did not want people not to believe him"
That's quite a weldment of a phrase

Oh, our lovely guests went. Such a lovely family they are. I miss them!

@CowperKettle :-)
A * for Tromano for his patience and enthusiasm! :-))

> The monkeys testing the technology had been trained to type letters corresponding to what they see on a screen. For this study, the animals transcribed passages of New York Times articles or, in one example, Hamlet. The results, which are published September 12 in the Proceedings of the IEEE, show that the technology allows a monkey to type with only its thoughts at a rate of up to 12 words per minute.
user233358
Do you speak English anywhere during your daily life like at workplace etc.?
@Arrowfar Salam! :-)
Me? No.
user233358
Ah I see.
I wish I had the talent for teaching English. I would have given lessons.
user233358
17:25
@Avicenna Wsalam! How is your English classes going?
@Arrowfar Going very well! :-)
user233358
@CowperKettle oh yes sorry :D
@CowperKettle Have you ever tried?
17:27
@Avicenna Yes, but I should have tried more. A woman asked for lessons via Skype. She is a very talented self-study person.
I should try again sometime.
user233358
Hello @Man_From_India
@CowperKettle A very good idea!
Hi @Arrowfar
I attended translation courses and really admired how some women teach English, how they handle the whole class and make everyone busy.
@CowperKettle We have such power!

I always had female English teachers. In all grades.
Same here. But my sister attended courses with a male teacher from the UK
He visited our flat and we chatted about some stuff, like philosophy and music
A nice guy
user233358
Cool
Once I taught 3 retiered teachers. 2 Persian literature teachers and one math teacher. It was funny. They were really attentive.
user233358
Most of my English teachers sucked.
user233358
17:32
I improved English on my own mostly.
user233358

user233358
@Avicenna So you speak both Azery and Persian? Are they very different?
user233358
btw do you speak Arabic?
user233358
17:35
I have some Persians in my apartments. They speak Urdu fluently.
@Arrowfar My students hate reading. Bad new generation!
@Avicenna But they read social networks?
@Arrowfar They are very different. But we have lots of Persian words.
I think all generations might be affected.
@CowperKettle In Persian yes, but no one can force them read English stuff!
@Arrowfar I don't. I can read it and somehow understand it, that's about it.
@CowperKettle I loved to read English books, and newspapers if I could find any!
17:40
@Avicenna I also loved to read English books. I took them from a local English library
The first book I took was "To Kill a Mockingbird"
I wonder if the library still exists
I gave them 2 or 3 books
Donated
They were quite happy
@CowperKettle Wow, I love books smell, and the feeling of keeping them in my hands. Especially English ones!
@Avicenna I still remember the branch painted on the cover of the Mockinbird book
@CowperKettle :-))
@CowperKettle Sure you lived it!
17:43
@Avicenna Did you read it?
No, but I love to. It's beautiful!
It is a very good book
People wondered why she did not write books after that
I am reading it :-)
Great! (0:

Also, I misread that at first at some other site a few moments ago heh.

Is there a difference between bounce and bounce off? When I translate it to my first language it shows the same thing.

@PichiWuana Maybe you could post that as a question on the main site :-)
