@bobble "meaning" is a much wider umbrella term
Like sentence meaning
word meaning, meaning in context
A lot of meaning questions get migrated to Lit as well

this question was what inspired the message: ell.stackexchange.com/q/284705

or get asked there too. Like "I read Hamlet but I don't know what he is saying here"
Could go either way, that post
Definition is about stuff straight out of a dictionary or questions that can be answered thaat way
@Man_From_India Well the latter doesn't sound likely to me

How exactly are you parsing the sentence to get your proposed second meaning?

^you are asking Man_From_India?

(yep, sorry)

12:29 AM
@bobble I am takong "talking about future events" as something modifying the past participle form of verb.
@EddieKal in that case I think I was wrong. I wrote all those comments under the answer with wrong assumption. So I am going to delete my misleading and useless comments there. Thank you for clarifying.
Hi Astralbee, sorry friend. I thought that sentence did suggest two meaning. But I was wrong. And so there was no need of keeping those misleading comments. Sorry for wasting your time and troubling you. — Man_From_India 1 min ago
Done :-)

12:46 AM
@Man_From_India Yeah that happens all the time. Healthy discussions
I am going to clean up the comments
Actually since you just posted that comment and the answerer may not have seen it
I will clean up the comment section tomorrow

1:09 AM
Thank you Eddie

I have come across a coupe of phrases from the book Wren and Martin which are labelled as Stereotyped phases. They are:
1. For conscience' sake.
2.for goodness' sake
3.at his fingers' ends
4.out of arm's way.
5.the boat's crew.
What do these really mean. I more intended for a discussion about these topics.:-)

4:22 AM
"arm's way" or "harm's way"?
And I don't know if any special meaning is associated with "the boat's crew".
@RajorshiKoyal stereotyped phrases? Does it mean set Phrases?

4:38 AM
Yes set phrases..
Ok leave that..Please tell me the rest.
@Man_From_India

I think most of them are in dictionary. They are either termed as phrsses or idioms.

Yes but it requires a discussion.

Like?

Why are we using possesive with a noun that is not personified?
possessive**
@Man_From_India

Oh that. It's a set Phrases friend.

4:52 AM
ok why are we not using s after the apostrophe?
@Man_From_India
Can you slightly assist me with the meanings here?

In general we should not find logic or grammatical explanation in set expressions like idioms and some set phrases.

ok but is there any logic behind why we are not using an s after apostrophe in the case of conscience sake?

Hmmm that is tough one.

Q: Name, Conditions, and Pluralization of "Conscience' sake"

user39720In some versions of the Bible, 1 Cor. 10:25 contains the phrase conscience' sake with no s following the possessive apostrophe of conscience, which does not end with s, as in: New American Standard Bible (©1995) Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions for conscience...

Thanks a lot..I am going through it.Meanwhil e can you highlight on the rest?

5:07 AM
I tried to go though those answers but right now can't concentrate :P those are the areas I never touched upon.

ok not problem leave it
can you assist me with others.

I think that answer covers a lot. There are links in those answer that also you should check.

I did but it is impossible to comprehend particularly the syllable part.
Did you get where I am hitting?

Yes
I too never ever read much about it.

Please check the syllable part if possible maybe we both can earn something new.

5:15 AM
Too broad of a topic. At least to grasp a little from there you have to have some basic understanding. I don't have.

No problem leave it.

Or maybe I will try again later. If that makes any sense.
But for now I can't concentrate.

Sure take your time .I am not in a hurry. All that I would is that I would like to know the facts.
So trying later makes some sense.

But from your exam point of view, these things won't benefit you.

Then what will benifit me?

5:22 AM
Utilise your time for something relevant. Pass these things as something like a set expression.

Because I saw the things that are discussed in your class are too elementary.

Though that is my guess and I should not come to any conclusion based on just one or two screen shots you shared.
But that's my hunch.

ok
What is meant by arm's length

5:25 AM
Maybe I am wrong.

I posted a link. You may check if required. Let us discuss the rest.

Are you really sure it's arm's length?

Any sentence that uses the phrase?

it. A strong current of moral struggle runs through Arm’s Way, as our narrator witnesses the slow rise of evil with alternate expressions of horror and ecstasy.

5:28 AM
Context?

No please provide the context?
Because it's Arm's Way but you asked me about arm's length.
Arm's Way in your sentence is a music album from the band Island.

Arm's way not length I am sorry
Arm's way is what I am asking.

Oh man 😂
Btw "out of arm's length/ways" is not a set expression. I thought you found it in your grammar book.

ok
What is out of arm's way?

5:38 AM
Arm's Way is just the name of a music album.

What does this idiomatically mean by the way?
the boat's crew meaning?

"out of arm's way" is a headline. To understand it better we need to read the article.
No idea if it's a set expression. Have to check dictionary for that.
But it could also mean literally.
I mean the boat's crew.

the boat's crew what does it mean?

Sentence?

I tried but could not find a sentence.

5:51 AM
Where did you find it?

Wren and MArtin
Martin

And they said it's a set expression?

Any defination or meaning they provided? Or any example sentence?

No ..

5:55 AM
Then I don't know.

ok not problem..

Can you please take a snap of the page and post here?

Yes please wait a second.

Sure take your time

@Man_From_India.

6:22 AM
Hmmm but strangely I didn't find the last two on the dictionary.

No problem tell me all that you could find.
In the dictionary @Man_From_India

6:58 AM
