Hi everyone, which one is correct? "Due to my penchant for badminton, I found tennis intriguing and secured a position in tennis team" OR "Because of my penchant for badminton, I found tennis intriguing and secured a position in tennis team"?

1:29 PM
@RahulJain There's no difference between the two sentences.

1:40 PM
@userr2684291 We had this multiple choice exam for histology, and I got 4 or 5 of them (out of 21) wrong, but apparently gave nice short explanations
People say multiple-choice tests are easier because the examiners don't spend enough time making hard but on-topic questions.
@userr2684291 \o/
but math suckz runs away

1:57 PM
@It'sOver Essay questions are like this Tell me everything you know about X / how X works. and Explain the difference between X and Y.. T/F questions are like this: Squid are half fish – true or false?.
I had an 11-minute exam with 25 T/F questions, with each correct answer being +1, and incorrect –1. The hardest exam I took.

It was some economics BS.

So you have a BS in economics?

I studied for a week for it, and my friend only an hour (to read the book once).
We got the same score...

-2

2:04 PM
No, we both passed. I got like 22 outta 25.
But yeah, essay questions are much easier I think, because you're almost guaranteed points if you know something about the matter at hand.
I hate it when such BS, irrelevant subjects take most of my time.
You'd expect the profs to be aware of the fact that their subjects are complete garbage and no one cares about them, but no...

@userr2684291 come to think of it, my worst exam (in terms of evaluating knowledge and how hard it was) was physics in medicine, 45 questions
@userr2684291 Ha, now I need a moment to reflect how you and I think both so similarly and so differently about things in the world
Except in physics, the guy who didn't study got 20 out of 45, and I got 24. Now how shitty is that.
There are other exams like this except I get the full mark on them. But no, a course never to be remembered or used again in my entire field gets to get under my skin.
@userr2684291 To be fair, I dunno about over there, but over here, everything before the university entrance exam was different.
Like, you either wrote exactly what they wanted or you wouldn't have earned any points.
Maybe it's generally a thing, and/or maybe a product of our own dogmatic education, so I'm unsure

2:20 PM
I actually first encountered that after high school. Each physics professor asked for the proofs they gave (of the same formula).
Not sure why. Maybe they all hate each other.
But that was the only instance where I encountered that sort of thing.

Oh, you've had it better then
Oh but of course you have. Our education sucks second worst, to war nations and India, maybe.

That does sound sucky. What I dislike about our education is lack of choice. You can't really choose your subjects anywhere.

AHAHAHAHAHHA
If I had to explain what I dislike about mine we'd be here until our eyes fall off
What subjects do you have?
We have lots of state propaganda sprinkled with meager theology
I wouldn't have minded the latter, if it was truly a philosophical (albeit theologian) course

@It'sOver I was mainly referring to high school education.

Oh don't get me started on that
Although, hang on, I think I remember realizing you and I haven't had much of a difference about that educational period of our lives

2:29 PM
I think all schools here have: math, physics, chem, bio, but also... English, Croatian, German, history, art history, music history, philosophy, psychology, ethics, Latin, sociology...

But anyway, I had, for the entrance exam and thus as a sort of a final curriculum, Persian literature, Arabic, Islam, English, geology, math, physics, and chemistry

8 subjects. What.
I counted 15 I think, in my last year.

We've had history, geography, a couple of other BS as well
But spread throughout the years and unimportant

Yeah except each professor thinks their subject is the most important one.

I've never had to taken an economics exam though, that's fosure

2:32 PM
I had that at uni.
At uni I have 5 subjects, haha.

@userr2684291 Oh OK, at least you didn't take a university entrance exam having to compete with 600000 people from all over the country for only the first 1000 spots or so
@userr2684291 CURSE YOU
Wait, which semester?

@It'sOver The first 1k spots for what?

An exam so overblown out of proportion that charlatans milk people publicly on the frigging state TV and rake tons of money

One uni? We take these "Matura exams", which are a joke, and some universities have their own entrance exams.

@userr2684291 Three top majors, pharmacy, medicine (is that what a medical doctor studies?) and dentistry
@userr2684291 Ours is a very unfunny joke

2:38 PM
I took a couple of entrance exams (for no reason, because I kinda knew I wouldn't study medicine, etc.), and I was at the top of every list, lol.

5 mins ago, by It's Over
@userr2684291 CURSE YOU
Some people just have it eeeeasy
I've ranted about "Konkur" (Our big and scary entrance exam) all over SE for three years, haha
You know how you stop being so pissed off at something once it's over and you no longer have to deal with it?

Yeah.

Well, that has happened for everything except Konkur for me. And I've gone through some shit, man. I was dying three years ago.
Literally families are torn apart and kids are sent to hospital every year on June/July when it happens

Lol.
I get you.

Anyway, I got stuff to do. Laters

2:43 PM
It's amazing how no matter how much you lower or raise the bar, the... grade distribution remains the same.
See ya.
I gotta study too.

3:39 PM

4:36 PM
Hi, I am preparing Statement of Purpose for Grad school. Which one is correct? "I developed this habit during my Bachelor's at XYZ University" or "I developed this habit during my Bachelor's from XYZ University"?
