@TheDarkSide Thanks for linking this information. What a low amount of voters!
The tally is 54 now...

The low amount of voters is pretty normal for the first election
07:07
@MadScientist I agree, voting should be disabled on the election questionnaire, there's a risk that people will base their votes (both up/down votes on there, but more importantly their electoral votes) on how others have voted in the questionnaire rather than making their own informed decision
07:51
About the low level of voting; I get the feeling that quite many of our high rep users (i.e. those that can vote) are unactive, and many are probably not visiting the site. If you look at the first two pages of users, many have posted almost all their questions and answers during the first year of BioSE.
I think most users can vote - you only need 150 reputation for that.
But yes, a lot of the high rep users are inactive.
can we see how many votes have currently been cast?
08:25
@rg255 I have been using the constituent badge.
Currently 54 awarded, and they are given after the first vote has been cast.
ahah, clever.
clever idea
works only for the first election, though.
:-)
nice to see some less frequent users are voting too
yes, this is good.
lets see, how the outcome will be
08:27
I might start a smear campaign against you all
;P
at least sepp blatter is not running for this election
Yes, but I think at least half of the top-100 users haven't voted. It's a shame that many of the initial users (many of which posted great content) have stopped visiting the site.
I'm still flipping back-and-forth with my third pick ;)
It's pretty normal that not everyone stays with the site. And that's not an issue unless the total number of active users declines, which is not the case for this site
@MadScientist You're probably right - I just think it's a shame that we have lost a group of really knowledgeable professional/semi-professional users with lots of subfield-specific experience (sometimes in areas where we now lack users).
@rg255 Since the voting is almost over, this would most likely not help you :-)
@fileunderwater Interests shift, time budgets as well.
09:03
certainly my activity on the posting side of things has reduced of late with finishing the thesis, tried to stay active by votes/comments
in a few weeks you'll probably see a sudden increase in my activity :)
when you wait for the comments from your supervisor? :-)
hopefully he comments before then - thats the submission of the thesis
ah, ok
so you have to wait for the approval of your committee?
09:33
thats done with a public defence in september, I present for ~2-3 hours to an open seminar, including questioning from the opponent, committee, and public, then the committee go for a relaxing lunch and decide, meanwhile I sweat and stare at my lunch trying not to puke...
regarding the up/downvoting on the questionnaire: comments about votes would be very useful, although its close to being decided who will be a moderator it is still possible for the candidates to learn what the community expects of them - would have been good to get that feedback (I count 20 downvotes on the page, and no comments explaining why, it's a shame)

With the election closing in just 23 minutes when will we find out the results?
@rg255 Very shortly afterwards, usually. Or immediately if you have the election software and run the result yourself
I'm excited to see how it turned out.

Voting is closed now. We have 55 persons which cast a vote.

grats guys, looking forward what you bring to the table

Congratulations to @Mad Scientist, @Chris, and @WYSIWYG! You deserve it and I am very happy with this excellent combination of experience. You guys rock. Also, I am very happy to see at least one 'old' moderator in the team. Good luck guys! I will flag your heads off ;-)
