I can show you how though its simple I have done alot
Plus the small ones cant do that much damage even if they explode
cuz the max that can happen is 1 tnt explodes
the rest is covered by water.

When I play on faction PVP servers
I normally build 1 or 2 when I'm trying to take out bases
like you know the ones where people "protect" bases
and you cant get on their property because its "claimed" by a faction

The piston is sticky.
The repeater's setting doesn't matter, and none of the blocks underneath matter either (except for the one under the repeater)
