This is how my wood farm looks when it's full to the brim.
I mined it out. It adds up to about 13 stacks of logs, maybe a little less. Also, filling it consumed about 60 stacks of bone meal, or slightly over a full double chest.

Well,‍ one can harvest them. I just spam them until I only have a few; when you break the leaves from them saplings you always get some back.
