A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

EonemaIs it protein? code-golf chemistry Given the molecular formula of a molecule, determine whether or not it could be a polypeptide in as few bytes of code as possible. Details A polypeptide is a polymer of amino acids, typically referring to a long chain, but here meaning any chain of one or more a...

Very cool attack
Uses cloud FPGAs as EM sensors, to mount electromagnetic side channel attacks against nearby computers
The more you look into side channels the more you realize the carefully organized sand is full of holes

> Machine learning (ML) has become ubiquitous in various domains, such as healthcare [24], automotive [26], and cybersecurity [54], among others.
Of all of the use cases for ML they could have chose they chose the three that make my bones want to crawl inside of each other
that's certainly an. apt analogy
actually I think "visceral" would be a better word

A: "Hello, World!"

Xuesong PengAutoHotkey (v2), 30 bytes FileAppend "Hello, World!","*" AHK is designed for GUI apps. It won't attache the current console by default. Need to call with piping: > autohotkey hello.ahk | echo Hello, World!

CMC Given n, count bases of sum[A_k \in Q]A_k (-1)^(k/n)
E.g. n=3, output 2 since (-1)^(1/3), (-1)^(2/3) and (-1)^(0/3) are linear dependant

Nice job, Gmail. Very logical guess.
Especially given that it's December 16th.

@emanresuA Yea I feel like security researchers are just trolling a lot of the time
No, this is a meaningful attack, and from what I understand such a transmitter (say in a compromised 3rd-party library) could fairly easily go unnoticed. it just has a lot smaller scope than you might infer from the title/abstract

@DLosc it inserted the question mark too early. It meant to say "Father's day for giving to the mother"

new rule you should not be able to feel intense nostalgia for six months ago
that is far too recent
Diagree, I feel nostalgia for 1 hour ago
A stress-free time
Any time that's on the opposite side of some big life changes makes sense as a nostalgia target, IMO

Rant of the day: Earlier this afternoon, my "supervisor" (who I haven't seen for 6 months) asked how the noise level was and if it was impacting my work. I said yes, there are quite a few people (and dogs) and a quite space would probably help. Then he suggested I should get therapy to get more comfortable with loud working environments.
First of, you started this topic. Secondly, I think it's quite normal to prefer a quieter working environment and that's not indicative of needing therapy?
@emanresuA Ah I missed it can only pick up signals from covert channels
@mousetail'he-him' 💀
i am too one of those

@mousetail'he-him' haven't seen that one before
Made it out of Russian I with a 90.2% an A is an A lessgoooooooo
Best case scenario my chem teacher takes pity on us and drops the lowest grade in each category (which he's hinted he might do), which makes it mathematically possibly for me to scrape by with an A in that class too (I did great on all the assignments I just missed a bunch because of the fence)
And I'm 100% getting a B or below in my hardware security class, but as soon as I pull an all-nighter tonight, finish it, and turn it in tomorrow morning, I can pay off all my sleep debt and be free (and also confident I'm going to have a high enough GPA to register for more than 5 classes so I can repeat all my mistakes next semester)
I only have (checks to-do list) 11 things I need to do over the break
ranging in scale from laundry to completely building four browser games from scratch
I've figured out an insane productivity hack though
If I just always have water next to me, I can just channel every impulse to do something other than work into sipping water, and then I'm both not dehydrated and not distracted
actually a good idea lmao
I'm going to remember that
Drinking large amounts of water and also large amounts of caffeine does mean that I spend like 10% of my time walking to and from the nearest men's bathroom which is on the other side of the building lol
Theoretically the bathroom right by the computer cluster is gender neutral but nobody treats it like it is

Why does every paper feel the need to do this
"Having sex with your coworkers is bad: a new collision-based hash weakening scheme"
8
Like just tell me what the paper is about
no, they've developed a new quantum-safe entropy source based on attempting to feed two cats with one bowl and reading how many remaining limbs the human has
22:59
Dang, I was hoping it was an actual paper about cats
23:35
Y'all ain't talking about paper cuts?
23:55
@rydwolf wait what is it treated as and how
