@SandboxPosts Re: minimum size: for practical reasons it has to be at least 12x18, and it's actually pretty recognizable at that size
(re-upscaled to 600x900 for visibility)

@Seggan welcome to the dark side
I assume vocals is singing?
Just realized I actually don't know what a vocals class would be LMAO
probably singing or voice acting training
Interesting
Yeah I guess it could be both
I've actually never seen any voice acting trainers

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

The Empty String PhotographerDelta Delta Number! Given a sequence of integers, output the left leg of the "delta triangle". You almost certainly do not know what I mean, so here is a worked example: 2 3 5 7 11 The sequence is input. 1 2 2 4 2 3 5 7 11 Calculate the difference between the terms. (The difference can be n...

Did you know you can technically send null characters in chat? They get removed and it just appears as a blank message.

@Bbrk24 perfect mine looks just like this
well except for the colors
I really should get around to adding proper image output to my vyxal fork but that'd require actually doing something beyond cloning the repo and writing a to-do list
I love how the only way to do graphical output in vyxal is currently HTML output, which leads to some extremely janky solutions

ppm exists
Could be worth adding a viewer to the site
It does, but having the option to just manipulate raw pixel buffers would be nice too
(although vyxal's lack of speed strikes again)
also is absurdly slow for reasons I don't understand
10:33
Well what're the inputs you're giving it?

Any practical language use 4-bit encoding?
Write λx. x*x+3 as (λ x (+ (* x x) 3)) and share some encoding

it would be... impractical for any practical language to use anything other than its platform's native encoding

Q: Draw the Flag of Greenland

Bbrk24The flag of Greenland consists of two red sections and two white sections. I'll provide a diagram below, but also give a textual description. The background of the flag is a rectangle that is 18 units wide and 12 units tall. The bottom half of the background is red, and the top half is white. The...

actually got to answering a question in tinyapl myself(:
now to be outgolfed by 50%

Since when does desmos have complex number support?
I'm more surprised it took this long
I imagine it'd take a while to implement given it's quite a complex thing to do
🥁
cue Seinfeld theme
@emanresuA Still not on mobile, it asks me to define i as a variable
@emanresuA Serious answer: I think within the past day or two
Also, @RubenVerg are you aware of what the TinyAPL online thing looks like on mobile?
When the page first finishes loading it looks like this:
Then, if I scroll down, it looks like this:
The buttons cannot be scrolled off the screen, they are permanently taking up 2/3 of the screen space, afaict
21:50
I have a bit more luck on mobile
No scrolling needed
But still not very much looking like it's usable at all
I'm also on an iPhone SE, so 375x667 px screen
(physically it’s double that but one CSS pixel is 2x2 physical pixels)
22:28
I just upscaled that answer by a factor of 20 and then this happened:
Not the most efficient language out there, huh?
900% faster than my languages
Also, unless I did the math wrong while upscaling, it looks like the circle isn't centered?
I have to do 60 by 75, not 65 by 75, in order for it to look vertically centered
Yeah? The image height is 120px, not 130px?
The original answer had it centered at 6.5 in a 12px tall image, for some reason
I'd think that 6 would be shorter than 6.5 if it were correct :P
My guess is that it's offsetting the zero-indexing of the grid
22:37
ohh
maybe
No way .io dies
Too good a TLD
potentially because it depends on IANA/ICANN
they haven't stated whether they'll force retirement or do something else yet
to quote the article:
> The IANA may fudge its own rules and allow .io to continue to exist. Money talks, and there is a lot of it tied up in .io domains. However, the history of the USSR and Yugoslavia still looms large, and the IANA may feel that playing fast and loose with top-level domains will only come back to haunt it.
I've been dreading this, but I think I need to handle structs of different sizes for my toy language.
Having to alloc to play with 2 numbers instead of 1 is a bit much
Protip: If you write a compiled language, START with the assumption that types can have varying sizes.
23:30
Protip: If you write a compiled language, compile to C and call gcc
That would be a smart idea if I was compiling to a real ASM
Or machine
It seems easier to compile to C++ and call g++.
only marginally, tbh
the important parts are the ability to manage memory (malloc/realloc/free) and define types (typedef struct)
Compile to Cython
and not have to worry about calling conventions
imperative languages like C also make a much easier target than SSA because they’re typically much closer to the source
