Also, it, uh, didn't work out very well for them. And almost every time since, a party that splits goes on to lose the presidency. So if your only goal is winning, splitting the party is considered political suicide. (Though Trump & co are fond of throwing out all the conventional political wisdom, so who knows.)

so some brainfuck compilers i've read about optimize multiplication loops like [->++<] or like [->++>++>+++++<<<] and some even specifically optimize these "gliders" +[-<+]- ++[--<++]-- , the former by just multiplying the number, the latter by only looking where the marker is, not doing all this inc/dec stuff inbetween.
