It annoys me that we have , , and .
They are different
But overlap a lot
Yes
All question with any of the others should also be tagged number
Arithmetic doesn't really have a reason to exist IMHO

@emanresuA and also I believe
Oh, no, guess that one finally got nuked
Don't think so? But there is
@emanresuA Feel free to suggest a tag cleanup on meta, it's been a while since we had some spring cleaning

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

mousetailYet another Colatz challenge Background We all know and love the colatz sequence. It goes like this: If a number is divisible by 2, divide by 2 Otherwise, multiply by 3 and add 1. The Colatz conjecture theorizes that if you repeat this process for any number, you'll eventually reach 1. Binary I...

Any test about init CS of DOS versions? It can't be documented as INT 21/31 changes it
@cairdcoinheringaahing I haven't written up a meta post in a long time, but here's some more: (ambiguous, used for various purposes), (ambiguous), (why not other operators), and (and ) (all the same thing), (niche), , and (single-use), and , when exists.
Internet should by synonimized with networking
Algorithm could be applied to every single post on this site
Syntax and graph-theory seem useful
I'm not saying they should all be destroyed, just that they all are ambiguous / overlap with other tags
If someone wants to turn that into a meta post, go ahead
@emanresuA there's a golfing language tag?
Let me just apply it to a question real quick :p
10:10
@mousetail pretty sure they already are
Weird, they show up separate on the tags page
10:45
Morning!
@emanresuA synonyms do that
If you click on the tag, it takes you to the list of questions tagged

I really want a copy of my hand written signature I can just paste onto documents I have to sign. Is there a clever tool to strip out everything but the signature from a photo?
I just took a photo of my signature, and cropped it down
@Simd Just open in any image editor and adjust contrast to the maximum value
@cairdcoinheringaahing how do you deal with the non pure white background?
By bumping up the contrast
@mousetail I was hoping to do it in code as I have never used an image editor. Gimp scares me
11:09
that's the point of that step
Can you then set the background to invisible/transparent?
Do you use Linux?
Yes then just copy the color channel to the alpha channel and invert
@Simd Not right now but usually yes
If you really want to do it in code I'd use a GLSL shader so you can interpolate properly and get crisper edges
@Simd For exactly that kind of project, I would spend 3 weeks doing this in opencv.
@mathcat :)
@mousetail ok I need to learn how to do that
@mousetail thanks!
In the glsl just check if the red channel is more than 0.5
if you then enable multisampling it will create a very hard edge but one that is smoothish and not pixelated
11:15
@mousetail what language are you doing this in?
You can do it in python if you want with pyopengl
or c
If your image has enough resolution already it's probably overkill though
@Simd idk, it works for me

CMC Given a integer N, output the smallest value B so that N encoded as a binary string, then cocatenated with itself B times makes a number divisible by 3
16:38
what is CMC @mousetail?
Chat mini challenge, challenges that are too easy to fit on the main site
Ok
@mousetail the binary number should be divisible by 3?
Ok
For example 1 is 1 in binary, if you concatenate it twice you get 11 which is 3 and divisible by 3. so f(1) = 2
16:49
Ok
@mousetail got it, for CMC do you just send TIO link if you get it?
If you want, there are no strict rules
Ok
it was fun ty

Q: Capture the Flag... with a twist

The ThonnuInspired by a challenge from the OUCC 2022 Seniors competition. Background Two teams are playing "capture the flag". They take turns invading each other's base and capturing their opposing team's flag in the shortest amount of time. The attacking players each have one soft ball they can throw at ...
