@emanresuA Demo
Opinions about using bold/italic/underline in a syntax highlighter? (My own opinions are pretty set already, but I'm curious to hear yours.)
@DLosc Subtle bolding can be good for keywords
Yes for markdown.
@GingerIndustries Meh, I like seeing everything the same font.
@GingerIndustries "Subtle" bolding? What's the CSS for that? /s
@DLosc font-face: bold-but-not-really;
@DLosc aja you can use font-weight to do that
20:08
@DLosc font-weight: 600
+1 on using it for markdown
@RadvylfPrograms Hmm... I don't see any difference from font-weight: bold. Maybe it only works with certain fonts?
Yeah, the font has to support each font weight individually
Except some newer variable fonts
Any idea when the next SE nitro is coming out?
good question
Probably never, the drawings are on my old laptop and I can't easily send them over
20:12
Aww :(
what happened to your old laptop
Battery wouldn't hold enough charge to be practical for school, and it wasn't in great shape anyway
20:25
Guys YCbCr is awesome
is that a color encoding
yeah
It uses the actual perceived brightness rather than the (r+g+b)/3 brightness like HSL does
So you get cool stuff like this:
oh is ycbcr the format that jpg compression uses? (by downsampling the cbcr or whatever that term was)
@hyper-neutrino yeah
TIL you can middle click the address bar in chrome to show the hidden https:// and www. parts
@GingerIndustries nice one
20:50
@RadvylfPrograms why can't you easily send them over?
Because of the app I'm using for the drawings
Chrome Canvas
Agreed

A: How can we get new users to use the sandbox properly?

AZTECCO**Add a sandbox button to use instead of vote to close. Vote to close may hurt a bit someone's feelings. Automate the move to sandbox process can make things easier. Since there's more attention in the main page, feedbacks may come more rapidly.

Nice idea, but SE's not going to do that for us. — emanresu A 10 secs ago

Q: Recreate `typeof` in your language

Jaacko TorusRecreate typeof (or equivalent function/operator) in your language of choice. Cannot use the function/operator you are replicating Must output exactly the same output as your language's typeof given the same input Shortest solution in a given language wins for that language Example in javascrip...

@pxeger one way we could pseudo-implement that is making a close reason for smth like "this challenge idea is good, but the execution needs work; please sandbox it"
not sure that's a good idea but just a thought
22:08
@pxeger I dislike this, closing is already confusing for new users (a lot of users treat it as permanent, there's lengthy discussions about clarifying etc.). Moving a post into the sandbox through a vote is not only a very confusing mechanic, but also, violates the fact that the Sandbox should, ultimately, be optional
Very few people disagree with the idea that they should go through the Sandbox, and those who do aren't new users - once someone knows about the Sandbox, they usually use it for all their challenge ideas. The problem isn't getting people to use it, the problem is spreading awareness about it before people post
Why there is suggested edits in Meta review queues if SE doesn't allow suggested edits?
tag edits

Q: Play an audio file

MakonedeChallenge Your challenge is simple: play an audio file at a given path. Your program will take the file path as input and will play it once and quit. To make this harder, however, you are not allowed to use external libraries, but modules that are part of your language's standard library (such as...

Something about "emoji" and "threating to invade a country" don't really go together
(Part of a tweet by Russia)

It's the internet
I just realised how close I am to 25k lol
Anyone know how to only select answers to open questions in an SEDE query?
@emanresuA Select posts, filter by questions that are not closed, inner join (?) posts again, this time filtering by answers to those questions.
23:47
@RadvylfPrograms what if like, we invaded ukraine together... lol jk... unless... 😋

@wizzwizz4 How do you filter by closed? I can't figure out how to deal with ClosedDate, is there a better way?
closeddate is not null filters for open posts
Thanks
Did you mean is null?
I've got this but can't figure out how to use inner join, can I have some help?
