I just want to clarify here, ASP.NET is basically the microsoft solution for hosting a webserver on windows? Its a PHP alternative sort of thing but only for windows?
@wat nice, I got the 750 ti
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta yes
@AshwinGupta cool
@Sherlock9 what device?
@wat Lenovo laptop, Intel i5, some sort of AMD GPU
Oh and running Firefox 50
wat
wat
@Sherlock9 probably the firefox. have you tried chrome?
I forget if I still have Chrome installed.
I'll try it on my phone, since I'm curious
07:13
chrome_elf.dll is missing. Sigh
I'll try it in UC Browser
On my phone I get 594.4 +/- 3.1%
Damn. My phone is powerful
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta yw
so basically, i don't want to use it.
wat
wat
@DJMcMayhem noice
I'm getting the OP3t soon (hopefully)
my parents think that since my phone can still make phone calls, it's good enough (iPhone 4s with a broken microphone, so it can't make phone calls without a headset)
07:15
Well actually, i need to first play with it for 10 minutes, find 50 things that piss me off, then add it to the ever-growing list of Microsoft products that I dislike.
@wat ouch. My iPhone 5 still works just fine, but I'm worried that this will be my fate in 1-2 years.
wat
wat
I don't think I want to use this drive anymore
@wat what the hell.
wat
wat
first half:
@AshwinGupta yeah it's pretty bad
and it's my main storage drive
oh my god. I mean what did you do....?
wat
wat
Honestly? Nothing.
07:18
can you explain why the "health-status" is only yellow caution. That should be a flashing red "f***ed up!!!!*

Q: Could you make me a hexagon please?

DJMcMayhemToday, we're going to make an ASCII hexagon. You must write a program or function that takes a positive integer n, and outputs a hexagon grid of size n, made up of asterisks. For example, a hexagon of size 2 looks like this: * * * * * * * While a hexagon of size 3 looks like this: * * * ...

wat
wat
@AshwinGupta backslashes?
@wat yup hold on
@NewMainPosts Thankyou!
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta cool
07:19
xD
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta honestly I don't see the main problem here
other than the fact that there are 198 pending sectors
everything else is at 0 mostly
@wat that is the problem.
Also, temperature, not big, but a little over.
what utility is that
@wat In UC Browser, I get "Total: 382.4ms +/- 8.3%"
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta CrystalDiskInfo - it's in the title bar
@Sherlock9 nice
@wat duh. Ty
also, the read-error rate is a bit high IMO
wat
wat
07:22
yeah
@wat Thanks. I don't really know what I just did, other than benchmarking, I guess, but thanks.
wat
wat
@Sherlock9 it was just a bencmark
but for 5736 hours, that might be okay. I assume the drive is internal?
Ah ok then
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta Originally external, in unknown condition, now internal for 1.5+ years
07:23
@wat "unknown condition" should be your first indicator that something bad could be happening here. ;)
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta Where did you see "unknown condition"?
you wrote it.
Good night everyone
Im saying that seeing as how you don't know the starting conditions
@DJMcMayhem gn, again ;)
Woohoo, mad hatter! \o/
07:27
1 TB drives are pretty cheap now. I got a really nice external one recently for 40 dollars on Amazon. Its like 3 inches tall, and half an inch thick. Really nice pattern finish on it to.
that one ^. You might be best off buying a new drive before your current one fails and you loose all your stuff. @wat
I haven't used a hard drive in forever. My everything use
ssd
@Pavel hybrid or ssd?
oh ok
Gah, phone autocorrect
I've got one SSD and one hard drive
I boot on the SSD
store everything in my hard drive
I have four SSDs in raid 0.
wat
wat
07:31
@AshwinGupta That's $40 more than I have
@Pavel :O
wat
wat
@Pavel why?
@wat ;) yeah I got it for my B-day
I had for SSDs lying around when I built my computer.
you must've had a fairly large case for that. My case hardly has enough room for the two drives.
07:32
They're SATA, so I don't even get a speed boost.
@Pavel oh.
And I had to use a hacksaw on my case to fit everything in.
@Pavel got you
wait did you have enough ports?
Or did you split somewhere?
wait can you even split SATA ports?
Mobo has six SATA ports
@wat 362 ms with the computer in the class, with i3-2310M
07:35
@Pavel oh ok thats pretty standard. I think I have a few less.
There's one open after optical drive, but it's buried under my video card and mess of cables.
@Pavel lets not even start about cable messes. I win hands down.
Hopefully I don't need to upgrade storage any time soon.
wat
wat
@AshwinGupta nice
@wat yeah, best thing I got all year. (Except for my raspberry pi)
07:36
Did your mess require saying your case apart? Didn't think so.
Saw*
Autocorrect
@Pavel please don't tell me you are serious.
omg, its 11:30..
gn I gtg
nice talking to you guys
No matter what I did my video card badly didn't fit.
Pavel and wat!
cya
I removed the hard drive cage
Which was welded to the case

@AshwinGupta bye

@AshwinGupta I have a raspberry pi (although I think I've mentioned it)

Q: CodeGolf : Print 2017 without using numbers

Niket MishraThe task is to write out a program without using numbers to print out 2017. Your source cannot contain 'time', 'date', 'year' or 'now'. Stdout: 2017

@AshwinGupta O__o wow... is that just the hard disk or does it include the adapter & all (can't click because pictures suck mobile data)
I feel ripped of buying a 3TB disk for $180
huh, since when does Community mark things as duplicates?
it is, clearly, but I'm not sure how a bot would know that
reading SE meta, it seems that users can cast binding close votes on their own questions if they have close-as-duplicate votes, and Community owns the votes for some reason

Q: What should we do with very low quality questions?

isaacgSometimes, very low quality questions are asked on the site, that are nevertheless within the rules for what's acceptable on the site. I'm thinking of questions like: Print the largest square in the Fibonacci sequence. Shortest code wins. This is just asking for a hardcoded 144. Or for another...

you know the rules and so do I, but he didn't
I mean, does he think that print(l) is a valid answer for almost every question or something
"there's no rule against having another program run before hand therefore is valid"
not sure if serious or trolling
Probably just trying to be clever

Hello
Was offline until somewhere at 2 pm SAR because system crashed due to the battery dying.
11:07
(Yes, the Saratovskaya region moved times 1 hour forward in the beginning of December.)
Going to make a font again. :D
I more than just love the GNU Unifont.
11:36
Does anyone know how to make Google Chrome's auto-completion work? The auto-completion now only includes stuff from my history and recent searches, but before it used to give more information. For example, when I used to type 2+2 into the address bar, it give 4 below without me searching it. But now I have to hit enter for it to give me the result
I think the real problem here is that you need to ask Google what 2+2 is. ;)

:D my "generate from a regex tree" generator works!
Processed by the Closure Compiler:
var sentence,aThing;aThing="a [cbr]at";var ROOT_OF_TREE=sentence=aThing+", "+aThing+", "+aThing+"\\.",_Chance=require("chance"),_chance=new _Chance(1),_RandExp=require("randexp"),_generator=new _RandExp(sentence);_generator.randInt=function(a,b){return _chance.integer({min:a,max:b})};for(var _looper=0;10>_looper;_looper++)console.log(_generator.gen());
This kinda borks the tree, I know.
12:26
What name would you suggest for the new font?
12:48
HALLO
@TuxCopter hello
@zyabin101 How do you parse the regex?
I need help: How can I buy a game at steam???
CMC: Invent effective cold medicine
@flawr unclear what you're asking, please describe what you've tried and where you're stuck.
12:59
@MartinEnder I opened the steam program, clicked "shop" then searched for the game (quantum conundrum) now I'm on the page of this game, but I cannot find any "buy" button or similar.
@LegionMammal978 I don't parse the regex. RandExp does.
@zyabin101 0/10 Make your own regex parser
wat?!
@flawr Scroll down
below the screenshot, there's "Buy Quantum Conundrum" and "Add to Cart"
I'm sure I can't make a regex parser.
Too hard.
@MartinEnder Cannot find it?
are you logged in?
looks like it though
for me there's a link underneath the wishlist button
Yes, otherwise it probably wouldn't display my name. =/
Hm strange...
actually the button even shows up when you're not logged in
can you see it if you open the store page in a browser? store.steampowered.com/app/200010
13:03
No, but even there I'm logged it =/
that's super weird
"I think it's a regional thing. I noticed this with a couple of games on my wishlist. They were fine when we were on the dollar, but when steam switched to rands all of a sudden no price no buy button." (just some speculation I found online though)
"The issue is due to prices not being set for your region. You can notify the developer that your region does not have a price set, and hope that they add one."
Hm can I just switch my region?
I just tried to log off / log in again
no clue, check the settings
Hm no, it seems they can detect where I'm currently in...
Too bad, I would have loved to play this game =(
@flawr Which browser are you using?
13:11
The thing is: I was able to download the demo, but no the game itself =(
@LegionMammal978 I tried it in firefox, but also in the steam browser.
As MartinEnder said, it is probably not available where I live =(
@flawr This might help after logging out, your language header may be set to en-<your region> or something
Clearing cookies on top of that might also help
@LegionMammal978 Thanks, I'll try that, but I guess they are determining my location via IP
@flawr lol, had the idea of buying the game for you as a gift, before realizing that's a stupid idea and you'd probably never repay me :P
@LegionMammal978 Do you think this might actually work?
@flawr Also, you could try using one of the many free proxy services
13:16
@flawr if you let me know what your steam name is I'll buy for you.
@MartinEnder How much is the game for you?
€2.24
$2.24 for me
@MartinEnder Oh that would be very nice, thank you for the offer! Do you think that this might actually work?
@flawr Hmm... if you can send money to other Steam users, it might
13:18
I don't see why it wouldn't. if you don't want to reveal your user name here, I think you can find mine in the TNB steam group: steamcommunity.com/groups/the-19th-byte
(then add me as a friend so I'll have yours)
@MartinEnder Yeah, it's just that trust is required of the other user not to steal all of €2.24
@LegionMammal978 it's Christmas.
@MartinEnder + 86400s
@MartinEnder I didn't even think of that, but I don't know whether it is necessary, anyway I sent you a friend request!
I see your point, though
> This email was generated because of a login attempt from a web or mobile device located at XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (US).
Yup, they track your location via IP
13:21
@MartinEnder Also please let me know in what way I could return you the favour=)
@flawr you don't have to return the favour.
Let me know if it worked.
@MartinEnder Yaaay it seems to work, I was able to download it!
@MartinEnder Thank you very much!
you're welcome :)
2
@LegionMammal978 WAT?! Q_Q
That is amazing=) You know I followed the development of this game I think back in 2011 or so, but I think when it finally came out I was unable to get a steam account or so.
Now I'm really looking forward to playing it=)
13:25
@zyabin101 It's not unheard of
Advertisers likely do it all the time
@MartinEnder Did you see me with the same user name I have here?
@MartinEnder It works:) Thanks a LOT!
14:08
There's my font source: github.com/schas002/Muho
It uses FontForge.
Here's a character card for o, the standard first character.
I just brought an idea to make a trading card game based on characters.
hello
hallo
just changed my name on PPCG, does it change automatically in chat?
my PPCG user is my parent user
I think you need to ask mods to 11 your chat profile
Or wait a bit, but that works too
14:28
@MartinEnder Did you ever play quantum conundrum yourself?
@flawr I've just seen several LPs on YouTube
I can highly recommend it, similar to portal but basically with other "tools":)
Martin Ender == Santa Claus confirmed. :P
@flawr nope
Anonymous
I will be getting answers on Output the Sign for the rest of eternity >_<
Anonymous
14:38
@MartinEnder Is this what you had to go through with the catalogs? Constant notifications of new answers?
@Mego Yeah now you know how I feel.
I get at least 3 TM answers a week
Anonymous
If everybody who answered upvoted, I could easily have the gold badge :/
@Mego That's how I felt with my Shortest Infinite Loop challenge. There was a period of time when I stopped checking the answers because of the massive numbers of them coming and coming
same with "Loading... Forever"
14:41
@quartata I gave myself a personal challenge to do that for as many esolangs as possible :P
Anonymous
To make matters worse, it's on HNQ
The thing is with the high visibility catalogs is that it never ends
I'm sure HW is even worse
Anonymous
@quartata Yep, because each new answer bumps it back up to the front page, perpetuating the cycle
At least they're protected
do you think I should protect the loading.. question?
14:43
No I don't think anyone should protect anything.
I'm just being selfish here since it cuts down on answers
(I did not personally protect TM fwiw)
Anonymous
Protection should only be used if the challenge is getting a lot of low-quality drive-by answers
@quartata it doesn't seem so bad
@El'endiaStarman haha right, just don't tell the kids=)
@MartinEnder ?
Can't see the highlighty reply thing like on desktop
oh, "I'm sure HW is even worse"
do you not use the new mobile chat UI?
14:48
No.
how come?
probably should
@El'endiaStarman You know I just remembered the game because you just talked about it yesterday or so!
It doesn't work on my tablet but it probably works fine on my phone
haven't tried
I suppose HW has answers in basically all the known esolangs now huh
well you'll have to start digging a bit to find unused ones
14:52
Whch is probably not exactly the motivation of the average drive by catalog poster >_>
For TM though a good chunk of the answers come from new languages it seems
Which there are a surprising amount of. I see low rep users with new esolangs posting on TM quite a bit
I wonder if that's traffic from esolangs (the site) spilling over
@quartata We've given them quite a bit of traffic, so I wouldn't be surprised if we started getting some from them.
15:23
any more feedback on this?

Easterly IrkPrint the primes below! Given a number n, output all the primes less than or equal to n, but that aren't in the number's factorization. @EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ didn't we just have that challenge the other week?
not that I saw?
ah, we have an almost identical one by VTC 3 weeks ago
@MartinEnder do you think changing to "print all numbers that share no divisors with n" is different enough to not be a dupe?
One time I proposed a spin-off challenge, but it turned out that the challenge I was spinning off from was itself a spin-off, and my proposal was an exact dupe of the original.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'm surprised we don't have a challenge to print all the coprime numbers below n, but the closest thing we seem to have the totient function challenge.
15:29
FontForge hates me.
right...
@MartinEnder yeah, that was why I said "vaguely dupey" at the bottom
I see no self-intersection between these four points (highlighted in yellow).
@zyabin101 so the roundtrip transform of transliterating File into Cyrillic and back ends up being Fail
Nope. This is nothing that relates to my problem.
How do I make FontForge normally know that there is no self-intersection between the yellow points.
15:34
@MartinEnder edited it, how about now?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

Easterly IrkGenerate the coprimes Given a number n, output all the numbers less than n that share no factors with n. (aka are coprimes of n.) Example: 10 gives the output [3, 7, 9] (in any form you like, as long as the numbers are unambiguously separated and in some sort of sorted list). More test cases...

I think "coprime" is only used as an adjective.
As in "these numbers are coprime to n"
And there are also numbers bigger than n that are coprime to n.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ BTW, just overtook you in the hatboard :)
It's also known as relatively prime or mutually prime: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coprime_integers
15:36
@KritixiLithos oh well
@MartinEnder noted that at the bottom
@KritixiLithos which hat?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ oh, sorry, didn't read that far yet
I got selfie stick and lounging around from my question
nice!
hey the top 5 are actually lined up by 1
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Jelly, 8 bytes
15:38
stupid bloody jelly
always so short
>_> I'm working on a python solution right now
But I stupidly did not post it on the hour and missed Hatter
ouch
yeah, I pinged you about that earlier lel
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ you either need to include 1 in all the test case outputs, or explicitly exclude it as a special case in the spec
(since all numbers are coprime to 1)
15:38
> Technically all numbers are divisible by one and thus share a factor, but according to the definition of a coprime, 1 is not counted.
input or output?
Fixed by moving the two points a bit higher. Oh FontForge, why do you enforce requirements that dumb... facepalm
I know, but I forgot about that...
the sentence you quoted only mentions factors
15:40
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ From Wikipedia: The numbers 1 and −1 are the only integers coprime to every integer, and they are the only integers to be coprime with 0.
So 7 bytes :D
>_<
does giving answers a choice to use 1 or not sound fair?
I don't see why that's necessary. it's not a super awkward special case because it follows directly from the definition.
@DJMcMayhem Done.
15:44
@MartinEnder okay, just special-cased and said "don't include 1."
@Qwerp-Derp Could you create a flag/version/detection mechanism for non-interactive operation? All those input prompt will look out of place on TIO. If at all possible, I'd also like to be a able to provide code from a file.
if you don't see any more errors, I'll just leave it there for a bit

Q: Natural Pi #2 - River

NonlinearFruitGoal Given an string with a train of hashtags, calculate its total length and divide by the distance from start to finish. Simulation What are we simulating? According to this paper, the ratio of the length of a river to the distance between start and end is approximately Pi! (This may have be...

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ that seems like the worst of the three options but okay :P
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ It's not an awkward special case and it's nicer to include 1, I think
Besides, why do you feel the need to exclude it anyway?
15:46
if you do want to exclude it, it's a lot easier to do so by asking people to print the coprime numbers in 1 < x < n instead of tacking on "don't print 1" at the end.
true
I'll just add it to the test cases and include it
@Dennis tyvm
Oh, while you're all here looking at Sandbox posts, care to look at mine? meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/11035/47581
Sure. Mine is done, I'll just let it sit for future readers
@Sherlock9 I like it, little concerned about people cutting corners on the drawing for golfing purposes
pop-con is probably too broad though
maybe have a minimum example?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ you can also define "coprime" as "gcd == 1" in which case you don't need to mention 1 as an exception in the definition either
15:52
I would if I had written my own code
@HenryWHHackv2.0 your avatar is a lot cooler than everyone else's
I'm just borrowing from the animation I linked at the top
@MartinEnder oh, makes sense
@Sherlock9 yeah, but photoshop works wonders
even if it's just for the example of 10 or something small
How's that?
15:58
Oh shoot. Something I hadn't considered
The animation has the dots get smaller to fit the page. And it limits to 10000 for reasons of being distinguishable.
Should I ask for the dot size to be variable?
hm, probably
or you can just let the animation be really big
